Anyone seen the new UCD logo?

It's disgusting. I'm embarassed to have gone to UCD now. I may have been an arts student and an MA student in the past, but I make a living sometimes off graphic design, so I know a fair amount about what's good and all.

The new logo looks like the worst piece of committee-driven effluent I've ever seen. I.e. they told the branding experts what to do instead of the experts telling them what is the correct solution!

OK, things like "Hmm, could you make the flames bigger?" "No, I think that would put the design off-balance" (i.e. look Shít). "LOOK, we're paying you here, you do what we say, we know what we want!!!"

The lads over on creativeireland.com aren't too happy with it either.

UCD Being Renamed
Granted it's not really the same, you're havin' a go at the crest specifically whereas that thread had a go at the whole rebranding/renaming/remarketing of UCD..D... Anyway, we got on to the crest at some stage in that thread.

I like it, tbh.. The fact that it's not simetrical is kinda different, jazzy, unnerving, but not bad.

And everywhere girl is taking over Campus. She not only sports a hat with the new logo on it, but is also on the posters for the Gaeilge classes on campus. Conspiracy?
