We are planning a DOW competition at the next midlans.

Although nothing is confirmed we are planning to go all out for the next midlans lan in terms of length, size and venue much larger than previous midlans. I expect the lan to go ahead early October.

As for DOW I'm planning on contacting THQ (numerous others) with regards sponsership for the event. (perhaps the add on pack as prizes)

The competition itself will probably be a 1v1. I reckon we have 8-9 people who play so far. Hoping to have 16 participants.

Assuming the Winter Assault Add on pack is released next month on time and is popular enough that may be used in the competition. If not then DOW v1.3 will be played.

Of course there will be mores new about the upcoming lan shortly so keep an eye on the lan page.

Rest assured, the expansion pack WILL be popular.
Afterall, Dawn Of War was one of the most highly acclaimed (if not THE most highly acclaimed) game of it's year. The expansion pack, as far as I know, simply adds a new single player campaign, extra maps for single / multiplayer modes and the infamous 'Fifth Race', the Imperial Guard, it should still be immensely popular. This may also include additional research / units for all other races.

I'll definately be buying it, despite the fact that Dawn Of War isn't even one of my favourite, or most played, games in my collection.
Best of luck with the LAN, and contacting THQ. Let us know how it goes!

hmmm for competition play 2v2s can be quite interesting especially if time is an issue.
2v2 matches on Quantra with res rate high can be handy for time issues... if not a 16 player 1v1 tournament would take a LOOOONNNNNGGGG time to complete from my experiance.

just make sure u dont use QS though or else u are in for a long nite

No not a board game version of it, get like a voucher for games workshop cause i know alot of people that hate different aspects of the board game and they like the modelling side of it where ya build and paint your armies and other people hate the modelling side and love the board game versions. But thats just a suggestion. :D

I've gone on the assumption that this event is over... If not, I'll re-sticky.
However, if you wish to organise new DoW events be sure to let me know and I'll sticky their threads, too.
