Bus to Dublin Airport

    Quick question.
Want to go to Dublin Airport by public transport.

    Aircoach is €7
    Dublin Bus 747 is €5

    Dublin Bus 16A is €1.50

Now, the Dublin Bus website says it goes to Dublin Airport, so besides for the much larger number of stops, and the longer journey time, why would I want to get the more expensive options?

I assume the 16A leaves you within a very short walking distance of the airport?

    Thanks.

Aircoach is more comfortable. You haven't said where you're setting out from. You might pay the extra for the convenience of being close to the stop.

The Dublin Bus stop at the airport is right beside the terminal.

Some people might think twice about relying on Dublin Bus for fear that the bus just wouldn't show up. I don't think the aircoach is any more reliable.

The 41 goes to the airport too. Same price as the 16A (probably), and a bit quicker as the 16A goes all around Beaumont & Santry.

With a city centre terminus, you have more reliable departure times from town with the 41. Of coure if you're in Harold's X or Rathfarnham etc, the 16A is your best option.

Also, not all 41s go to the airport. I don't think the 41a does, does it?

By 41s I meant the 41 (all of them), not the 41A. Post edited to remove confusion.

The 41B goes a couple of times too

Apologies, I am taking town as the setting off point.
What I see then is that we are paying 300% more so we can be more comfortable and a little quicker.

I will glady stick with Dublin Bus on this one.

    Thanks for the replies.

Not just the comfort driver puts bags on coach for you so no hauling them onto a std. dublin bus.

Dublin Bus'es "Airlink" and First Group's "Aircoach" are premium express services therefore thats why your paying the premium fare.

I'll rather give my money to the semi-state any day of the week compared to the greedy hands of First.

Dublin bus rambler tickets are valid on their 747/748 airport express services.

Book of 5 one day ramblers is €17 so €3.40 for 1 day unlimited travel including airport express.

Well yes. Of course, you're getting less stops, a bit more room, some dedicated luggage space etc etc. If you're traveling out to the aiport with one shoulder bag, the normal Dublin Bus service if fine, but if you've got bulky cases etc, trying getting them on board a normal DB service, especially if it's a route operated by their Olympian buses.

Quite a few of the 16As have extra luggage racks.

If your in a wheelchair or have mobility difficulties Aircoach is not an option

All of Dublin Buses Airlinks are wheelchair accessible

746 - does the 46a route and keeps on going to the aeroport.

    €1.75.
