Hello, in the last few days I have started seeing someone and I would like to lose some weight. The person doesnt care about the extra weight but i'd like to be in better shape because they are in fairly decent shape and I think its only fair.

So can anyone recommend a diet/exercise routine to help me lose weight?

I have signed up for several sports for when i return to University in September.

    Thanks for the help.

Many many many many many many many threads on this already but.. here's the basics.

    1) Reduce the amount of crap you eat. By crap I mean fast foods, soft drinks, snacking on chocolate, crisps etc..
    2) Reduce your alcohol intake
    3) Increase the amount of water you drink
    4) Be more active, ie take stairs instead of lifts etc..
    5) Excercise 3 times a week for 20-30mins a time.. Running, Cycling, Swimming.. whatever takes your fancy..
    6) Don't eat late at night, and reduce the amount of food in your meals as your day progresses.. ie Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dine like a pauper. With that in mind, try to have numerous small meals throughout the day instead of 3 large meals.
    7) If you're a member of a gym, start a weights routine.. It'll boost your resting metabolism, and help tone.

    Kevin.
