Aer Lingus check in

Is it normal to close the check in desk at 6:15 for a flight that leaves at 6:50?

That's what happened this morning at Cork airport, leaving about 10 passengers, including myself, fairly confused. Fortunately the automated check in was still working and my baggage was small enough to carry on.

The thing I'm most annoyed with is that they closed the desk when there were still people in the queue. Strange service. Aer Lingus is really going down the loo.

And why can't they have a later flight form Cork, the cheapskates. I've a right mind to start my own airline flying out at a more civilised time.

The new airport terminal is coming along nicely though, does anybody know when it will be finished?

AFAIK their check in closes 45 mins before departure. It's pretty bad form to close it when there's people in the Q....

Even if you've used self check in, how did you check in your bags? You still need to go to a check in desk to get your bags put on the plane??

As I said, fortunately my bag was small enough to fit in the overhead compartment and carry on.

There's no need to close the check in desk so early at Cork airport when it takes about 7 minutes to walk from the front door of the terminal to the front door of the plane. It's not like it's Heathrow or something.
