Anyone interested in a quick hi score challenge?

Right! I'm bored tonight. I'm loading up Winvice and I'll play a game at random and post a pathetic hi-score. See if you can beat it.

No cheating! I'll post the high score in about 10-20 mins....

Hmmm... Armalyte... or is it Delta..... hmmm.

Ok I picked a classic from the past... Dropzone!

This game is a defender clone. Collect the blue spheres (men) and drop them in the base chute and kill the rest.

I tried and failed big time!

game 1 score: 4880 rank: practise recommended! What me?
game 2 score: 3930 gawd! This game is tough especially with problem 1 and 2 below.
game 3 score: 7330
game 4 score: 16590 ranK: Dextral Dodger

Try and go for it and I'll try beating it. I'm using Winvice 1.16 and dropzone.d64 (pm if you can't find it).

Problems:
1. My guy's cloak shield comes on (and drains off) when I press the down key or fire key.
2. My 3 screen blitz bombs goes off the same way.

Let me know if you can get around this issue or don't suffer from it!

On a side note this key issue happens to me in Nebulus. In that case the game pauses when I press down during the bonus round (fish in bubbles)

The problem with the auto firing is fixed if you ensure that you are using joystick port two (and not one)...

After that fix.. the scores improve. Wahey! Just!

Ah now... surely ? It's a lazy sunday. A few of you must remember this C64 game! Dropzone is great shoot 'em up. Give it a go and place a score here.*

Here are the controls:

UP = Blast upwards
DOWN = Go down towards the planet's surface
LEFT = Turn and fly left
RIGHT = Turn and fly right
FIRE = Fires out a stream of lasers
SHIFT = Cloak yourself for a limited period
Space = Bomb the whole screen

(disable port 1 if you get keyboard trouble in winvice)

Mission:
Blast all the baddies (and there's a lot of them) to get to the next level, while insuring that you save your men at the bottom of the screen, you have to pick them up and transport them back to base (Which can be seen by the white cross on the bottom of the rader).

Paste a score!


* If not suggest another title.

Wahey! It's paying off... score up to 53,530 now. Need a joystick really and I know people used to get the score in this game up to the millions.

Actually, I picked one of those USB Joysticks (Competition Pro) and it makes all the difference for handling these types. Actually Sensible Soccer needs something more fine-tuned like a zipStick.
