Well, planning on buying 300d off of ebay (or anywhere else), but i'm not sure what price i should be bidding. What should i go up to, and what would be a rip off? I'm only talking about a 300d with a kit lense btw.

I'm not the seller or anything, I just had this noted in My Ebay - http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7536980418&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT

From an Irish seller, which are hard enough to come by, ends tonight at about 8pm.

Wow, that's a seriously good deal. If I didn't already have my 350d ordered, that'd be wonderful.

well im still looking to buy one and its proving pretty difficult.Best i can find is on cam-ireland. It works out at about 665E. I can't seem to beat that. Even on ebay, for a second hand camera, the prices fly up near the end of auctions.

    http://www.resellerratings.com/seller2472.html

scroll down and read the bad bad reputation they used to have

that's why they have such low prices, to suckpeople in, then use and abuse them and sell them stuff they don't want or need

yea. I won't risk it. Next in line is computeruniverse.com. Around 645EUR for the body only. I can manage that

I plan on getting a 50mm 1.8 mk II lens to get me started. I have to ask though, which would be a better starter/general lens. The 50mm fixed 1.8 or the kit 15-55 canon lens?

I have the kit lens, and while it's not great, it's capable of very good results. It can be a bit soft towards the edges at wide apertures, especially if used at the 18mm end. If you can step down to at least f8, then it'll give good results.

The 50mm f1.8 is supposed to be a great lens, sharp at all apertures, and it's next on my list. One thing to bear in mind is that with the 1.6 crop factor, this'll be about equivalent to 80mm on a regular 35mm camera, so it might not be great if you want to take indoor portraits. The kit lens on the other hand gives a useful range, and notwithstanding what I said above, it's a fine starter lens given the price,

    John
