    Hi Guys,

I know a lot of people hate this, but I was playing in the 3k last night and made it to the final table. I was playing really good poker and felt I had a good chance of winning and than got what I felt was a really bad beat. I’ve only been playing online for 6 months and still learning. I feel I played the hand ok, but was just unlucky with the flop. I went all-in on the turn card, due to the flop cards given a possible straight. I had start playing a bit tight on the final table, as I had a good stack and could wait for the hands to come, anytime I force a showdown or raise the bet, I won it uncontested.

The only thing I could have done different is bet bigger on the flop or been more aggressive earlier in the hand and take the smaller winnings, compared to nothing now. But I still feel with the strength of his hand, he would have called anyway.

Would just like to get other peoples view, i.e. could I have done anything else or is this poker as we all know it.

    Thanks.

well done on getting to the final table ollie.

yep, u soft played the king and he hit the straight. he could have had a king with a better kicker though. maybe u should have put him all in on his first bet, when he had twelve left and u had 22 grand. but u played it right and he hit it on the turn, nothing to be done, hope u get a few quid for ur troubles.
    adios, d.

ok.... Thats an ugly beat alright but you could (imho) played the hand a little better (not that you play it particularly poorly but I would have played it differently personally).

The flop is a miracle flop for you. You dont have the nuts (or anything like it) and you have a poor kicker but these are the sorts of flops that I'd be very happy about.
For some reason you check it... I have no idea why. I might understand it if you are trapping to check-reraise but you don't. You played the whole hand far too passively in my book except that when there is a REAL danger on the turn, you decided that that was when to close the stable doors (sans horse!). As it happens I think its a poor call by him but he's probably shocked to see you with a King rather then a Jack given the way you played it.

In short, I would have reraised the flop substantially. The All In on the turn is ok but I'd rather make him pay dearly for the turn card then bet when he can see it.

Ugly outdraw. Even though he was ahead going in thats his fault for limping with Queens.... EUWWWWW!!!
    DeV.

I agree with what has been said about playing the hand differently but he did have 6 outs. It's a bad beat but as I say 6 outs.

All the money would have went in no matter what way it was played.

I would have bet harder after the flop- the check call is very passive.
I don't think it would have made any difference though

Thanks lads, your all correct and I should have force the hand earlier, but was trying to be smart and trap him. I've the view, when you get a great hand, get paid for it, but this as cost me too.

I got a few quid for it Doc, but I lost a big part of my stack on that hand, so I broke even on the nite. But I love making it to the last table its great fun and experience. Hope to meet you in town some night soon Doc.

I think your right do Devore, I should have bet big or even go all in on the flop and try to get him to lay down his Q's. But I never thought he would be holding a pair of Q's with his preflop bet, so I thought I was in total control of the hand. That would have been the correct play. After the flop, I gave him to many outs, which was the mistake, but I never thought a 10 would come up on the turn. But thats poker.

I think Accension is correct do, with that flop, all the money was going to go in whatever happen.

Its just a bad week for bad beats for me, I even got knock out of a live game on Thursday within 5 hands in a row and that was from been the chip leader. Each hand I had was very strong, but got beaten by great hands. Great nite do and thats poker.

    Thanks for the comments.

I agree, I doubt the QQ guys was going to lay his hand down unless he was very very sure you had a K, at that stage of a tournament I doubt he'd believe you when there's so much bluffing going on.
