where can I get information about getting a ferry to France then a train to Switzwerland? I'm mainly looking for prices. I think I can get the ferry for around 50 euro each way but I'm not sure about the train.

The SNCF website will allow you to book train tickets directly. There are usually reductions for booking two weeks in advance and bigger ones for booking a month in advance.
Irish Ferries should be able to help you with the trip to France.

Also consider bus, http://www.eurolines.ie/html/timetable_list.html it will certainly get you to Paris, although I'm sure you can pick up a link along the way.

I wonder if you can get direct trains London-Switzerland.

    No.

Paris, Lille, Brussles, Calais, Avignon and a few weekend "ski trains" to the French Alps are the only direct cross channel services from London.

There may be more added when the UK high speed rail link is completed.

A good few daily TGVs from Paris to Geneva. If you book early enough you should get a one way from €40.
