I was rather drunk on holiday in Bundoran during the dampest week of the summer and a line of thought came to me, what was the best 80s song of them all?
I mean I am sure lists and lists of stuff are out there but which one is really the best.
Has to be a one hit wonder.
Has to be a good song.
Has to be the type of thing that makes you hum it all day.
Has to appeal to a large section of the public, not a niche song.
Should be relatively timeless that even if released now would still be a hit.

And thats when it occured to me,

"My Favourite Waste Of Time" by Owen Paul, from 1986 if my Now Thats What I Call Music collection isn't lying to me.

Go on, download from somewhere and see if I'm not right!

Thinking of the rules though, what song do you think was the best of the 80s, single song selections only, no big long lists, but you are allowed to go on and on as to whyu its the best, just like I did!

    Europe - Final Countdown, surely.

Not quite a one hit wonder though? And if you played that in the shop Mick Neary would have you dragged out and shot, at least he would have in my day!
Sure then you would have to include WhiteSnake with Here I Go Again? No?

    Opus - Life is Life
    Ryan Paris - Dolce Vita
    Falco - Rock Me Amadeus
    Baltimora - Tarzan Boy
    Amazulu - Montego Bay

Prob loads more that I'll remember when I'm cooking the dinner!

Falco, Rock Me Amadeus, sweet! Wasn't there like a couple of dozen different mixes of that track?

Don't think Falco and White Snake count as one hit wonders. Falco was pretty big and I remember White Snake havin some more songs.

Anyone remember that song Funkytown? I think it was by Lipsinc or something like that.

Just thought of another one, a must have really, Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Jnr.
