ok, i'd like to buy a nice piece of art for my room, say anywhere between, €100 and €600

i'm in dublin, a few questions...

where do i go? what galleries....

is haggling aloud?

do they realy hold there value?

who's good?

any advice?

Are you buying for an investment - it take a lot of specialised knowledge and could be very hit and miss.

If you are buying purely for yourself and your pleasure (the only reason to buy art imo) then it doesnt matter who thinks the piece is good - as long as you do.

Your best bet is to go to Merrion Square on Sundays (could be Saturdays too, dunno). All the artists in Dublin seem to gather there to sell their wares. Very wide selection, in both goods and prices.

There is also the option of buying photographic art (the value of which is very underestimated in Ireland). It just so happens that the biggest exhibition of public photography is happening at the end of August on Stephens Green.
