what do you guys think of this? Could you ever see Rossi in F1? Personally I'd love to see him in F1, he's such a character but in all honestly I don’t think he would be that good... bikes are so different to cars. He was only 1.5 seconds away from the best Schumacher lap, which is absolutely fantastic for someone who has just started driving F1 cars, but 1.5 seconds in the real world of competitive Formula One is a massive loss to have on someone in the same car.

Could you ever see Schumacher going to bikes and dominating it like he has in F1....

Didnt Schumacher say "He doesnt know how Rossi does it on a bike" well something like that.Obviously this is to draw more crowds to F1 with Rossi entering it? I for one would like to see him in it.

well he has compleated enough mileage for a super licence I dont know much about moto gp but I do know rossi is good and only .200 of a second behind schumachers lap record means he ant to bad in an f1 car

1.5 off Schumey would be great I'd imagine. He's been testing there day in and day out for YEARS. Surely he'd have the pace of the mid field guys and in a Ferrari (pre 2005 :() he'd be able to do something.

Hey it worked for John Surtees. :) Plus Rossi must be getting bored with bikes at this stage, a switch to f1 would be a new challenge.

Don't get too excited. I know a man who, by chance, was at mugello the most recent day that Rossi was testing. This chappie was too far away to realise that the red helmet wasn't Schumacher. Until he looked at the driving that is. Particularly the atrocious lines that were being taken and knew it couldn't be Schumacher. It wasn't until he got back to his hotel room that he saw on the TV that it was Rossi.

He said there was no way this guy put in laps .2 secs off Schuey.

That's all hype. Business F1 had a piece on it recently and they too said it's all hype about how quick Rossi was going.

It's not that I don't think he could be amazingly quick, it's just that I don't believe that he was instantly quick.

In the past Rossi's main four wheel thing has been rallying and he's rumoured to have set up a test for when Fiat are due to enter WRC in the near future. I can't see him driving a donkey though so the car'll have to be good. He even competed in the rally GB a few years ago in a very yellow Peugeot 206 an stuck it in the wall within a few stages. As for the f1 thing, I reckon there's a lot of hot air in that as Motogp is switching to the 800cc format in 2007 and I reckon he'll want a piece of that. By the end of 2006, if he gets a decent few wins, I reckon we'll see him sticking on to try beat Ago's win record in bike gps. As it stands though, he has his own separate test team in the ferrari garage and has been invited to test with them every four weeks if he so wishes. If, after figuring out the setup of the f1 car, he's still off the pace I reckon you'll hear no more of it. Interestingly, in the past he's never been shy about his contempt for f1 and all the commercial bull**** that goes along with it and as well as that, he doesn't like being sponsored by tobacco companies (hence his bid to run a one man Nastro Azurro sponsored team next year, ditching altadis and Galoises). On another note, it's all very well mentioning Surtees for taking 500cc and f1 titles but the guy recognised as one of the greatest motorcycle racers of any generation (Mike Hailwood) made as much impact as a wet fart in f1, Johnny Cecceto was fairly handy on a bike but kept his head down in f1, I think he had a $hit car though. I reckon we'll have an answer on Il Dottore in a couple of months either way. Don't expect him to come cheap though...

Mike Scott wrote an interesting article on crash.net. Dunno if it's some sort of "come on, get it over with" thing because he's sick of all the hype and rumours or if there's some truth in it.

he might. Reckon at the end of having a run every month in Fioarno he will know if he would be able to do it properly. Despite the insane coverage that a true 'character' would get if he signed i doubt if Ferrari would give him a contract if he wasnt a top level driver.

Rossi in 500cc is what Schumi is to F1(with x10 times more charisma!) would be nice to see it.
.2 of a second of Schumis time!!! LOL :D 1.5secs off the lap record more like. (even 1.5 is good if true)
