Yeah, but at least you know you've got a good room for guitar playing. The wood floor really does marvels for the acoustics, whereas if you had carpet down, it would just suck the tone right out of the room. ;)

What do you think of the Amp ?are peavey any good and was i given a good deal on the guitar??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

Eh, I think you could've probably done better on the guitar, but you didn't get fleeced, I'll say that. The amp seems ok, not really a fan of Peavy myself, but I wouldn't knock it. Looks like you got a decent enough deal on that.

Karl did you get that amp from chris guitars, how much did it set you back, what amp did you have before it and do you mike it up for gigs and stuff (if you gig) ?

Yes, I did. Can't quite remember how much. I was using a friend's old AVT50, and I'm not gigging.

Actually , those Peavy Bandits are pretty fricken decent for the money. they are loud and have a lot of options for messing with the sound. Good deal all round man.

i´ll second that, my friend had a bandit... nice sound off it... i like marshalls myself, but what i really wanna get is an orange

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,638 ✭✭✭bombidol

Modern Oranges basically are marshalls though. So if you are going for one get an old one. Im not a marshall fan myself to be honest.

coolaboola... first amp i bought.. still have it, is a marshall 50watt... lovely sound off it... one problem with it at the mo though... i need to get it serviced, cos when i plug the guitar into it, it´´s kinda muted and then all of a sudden its workin grand for about 5mins and then its gone again...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,638 ✭✭✭bombidol

If you kick it does it come back on? This is a common problem with Marshalls.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,227 ✭✭✭Shanannigan

haven´t tried that.. its a good 4years old, i know they should last longer, but it was sittin idle for a good while, so i was thinkin it might be from lack of use and sudden prolonged use after being idle for so long... some1 suggested it was somethin like a capacitor needin changing

I have my Marshall about 6 years or so and it does that too. i just slap it and it works. not broken enough to get it fixed yet

Yeah its not a bad place, He owns Everest music in bray too but ive never been there so i dont know much about it

for a small Marshall like mine, (cos lets face in.. in terms of Marshall 50watts is small) would it be cheaper to buy a new amp altogether, or is servicing cost not too bad? in the mean time i have my 5watt mini-stack http://www.thomann.de/thoiw6_marshall_ms4_micro_stack_prodinfo.html
    slightly gimmicky, but just slightly...

50 watt marshall means nothing. I have Marshall 50watt JCM 900 and they sound great. Not ridicously expenisive but not cheap either. Is yours an old mosfet or somethin? or them VST(? cant remember) series?
