    Hello All,

I having an issue at the moment with the Microsoft Word application.

After double clicking any existing word document - a window appears with a
    Microsoft Visual Basic error
    Runtime Error '-2147417848 (80010108)':
Method 'CommandBar' of object 'CommandBarPopup' failed.

I uninstalled office and tried reinstalling it but the same problem is happening.

Has anyone come across this problem - and if so, how did they get over it???

    Regards,

You could try searching your hard drives for files called normal.dot and deleting them. It's the blank template word uses to create documents but it also loads it when you're opening existing ones. It can become corrupted or infected with a virus pretty easily, opening word and creating a new document will automatically recreate it.

Also contact MS support or check the support site. There are other people on the net with similar issue but no solutions that I could see.

    Hi All,

I overcame the problem by downloading SP3 for Office XP. It turned out easy after all of that....
Thanks for the advise - I think normal.dot is a part of the problem but no need to touch it once you update to SP3.

    Thanks Again,
