Anytime I've been to the states I've found it cheaper to book it all myself.
Of course, you'll pay a bit more for flights to NY closer to xmas but you'll get them reasonable enough online with aer lingus.
Get a nice hotel on travelocity.com or even book direct,
hotel 3030 isn't too bad, decent enough location too.

One tip - try Chicago or Boston, hotels there are cheaper.

The better half was planning the annual trip to the US with the girlies and found hotels in Chicago for a hell of a lot less. Also got the flights with Aer Lingus for 280 Euro.

Just booked 5 days in NYC at the start of Dec for myself and my girlfriend. Flights with Continental cost €951 for the two and we're staying in The Herald Square Hotel for $149/night for 4 nights. Not bad prices considering it's close to Xmas.
