Just had this hand at the start of an MTT (rebuy).... NOT A BAD BEAT :D

Holding Jh 5h in BB, I call a min raise as its near the start and the blinds are 30/60.

Anyway flop comes As 5c Ac

checked around to button who bets out 200 into pot of about 600. I call as does UTG. Everyone else folds.

    Turn 5s

    I check (right move??)

    UTG bets 500

    Button goes all in!

    Call???

Since I'm first here, I'll say call.

Worst case, he's got the case 5, and you split. I'd put him on a pair (probably painted, but maybe not). Either way, you can't lose. And it's a rebuy.

And now, forty posts calling me an idiot, and you telling me he had the ace to outdraw you. Oh wait, this is *not* a bad beat, so just the idiot posts then.

    :D

defo fold, UTG could easily have an A. Button could have anything.

Fold the flop. Fold the turn. Something tells me that you won this hand but 99% of the time you are in this situation you will be up against an ace.

As usual you are right, but as corblimey said it was a rebuy so I called. Stupid move and I was all ready to top up but..... I was up against Kings and a flush draw, both terrible moves in my opinion, but i think they were thinking the same (rebuy)! Oh yeh I won the hand!

Wouldn't have done it in a freezout, just checking to make sure it was right to fold 'normally'!

    Cheers

Also the tourney just finished there. Got 1st!!! Won a seat into the 'WPT Borgota Poker Open' FEEDER worth $217. Anyone have any details on this?

Also, Ive never won any ticket like this on PPP before, there's no record of it in my cashier account. Should there be? How do I know when its on etc.

Any details on the above tournament would be helpful.

    Cheers again

I'm sure it'll depend on how many people play.

You won't see anything in your account Rory but if you go to Borgata GF you will see that you are registered for the GF. It is unusual for VC/PPP to do a freezeout qualifier to a big event usually they are $198 re-buy affairs so this is great value, I may join you there!

BTW The Borgata is in Atlantic city and has a massive poker room.

Borgota is on the 16th of september. Same date as the first event of the EPT in Barcelona.

Fan of Eminem and the boyos?

yeah its surprisingly a freezeout for sure. you dont have to go though, i think the money gets credited to your account and you can do with it what you want.

You would have to go if you won it. The expenses would be credited to your a/c ($2.5k) and PP would register for the tournament on your behalf.

anyway, i think there will be about 1 ticket for every 60 people, does this sound about right? How many people would be expected to enter??

yeh i know, just wondering how many 'usually' enter these big tourneys

    hence the word 'expected' :)

Last year there were 302 entrants at Borgota. I would expect there to be a small increase in the numbers this year.
