We use them in work ... the boss signed up and we all have access to the DVD wishlist , then when DVD's come in whoever wants to take them home does so .. its an alright service when the Post is going ok but have had some problems with missing dvd's etc. However to sort these you just need to contact screenclick and then they mark dvd as lost , and send out another dvd off your wishlist. I'd imagine if DVD's kept going lost then they'd be more suspicious of certain accounts ... overall it's a good service ( but thats probably cos my boss is paying for it )

you sometimes get free trials if you purchase certain Sony products, I used them throuh this and thought they were fine but wouldnt really be too bothered apart from that as a bit of a pain if you forget (like I did!) to post them back!

Cheers cormie but I was actually looking for comments rather then an advertisment but fair play for effort :)
Seeing as I play on Pokerstars anyway, I might have a go myself ;)

If you use the promotion code "DVD75", you get 75% off the first months cost when you join up, so instead of paying 20 Euro, first month is only a fiver, not bad.

Did you read the whole page in the above link? There is a promotional code for the same offer you mention above, it just happens to be on my site, it's pokeriedvd75. That's actually what I was linking to boss;)

A straight flush won the offer last night

Where did you get the code you mention out of interest?

    Ahhhh
I thought you were informing me about the highest Poker hand....,
didn't get that far down the page tbh!
I got the code from a mate of mine so I now have to decide it is watching DVD's or playing Poker?

In the last Dubliner magazine there was a code - enter 'dublinerdvd' and you get one month free.

    Excellent.
Now will it get to the stage where they pay you to rent their DVD's? ;)

I agree with the general I think busybeedvd is a better service. They got a better selection and they're cheaper. I was with screenclick for over a year and while there is nothing wrong with their service they were always slow to get the new releases in usually by about 2 weeks.
Busybee is 34.95 per month for 4 dvd's at a time, where as with screenclick you only get 3 for the same money.

    just my 2 cents

ps they sent me free popcorn the other day which was nice

Resurrecting this thread from the distant past..just saw it.

I've signed up for free trials with both screenclick and busybeedvd lately.

Screenclick pros: in my experience so far, screenclick send their movies out a little quicker. They also send them out separately, so as soon as you watch one movie you send it back, thus getting your next one sooner.

Busybee send you out two discs together. This means you can't send just one back, you have to watch them both first- so you lose at least a day's time in the dispatch-return cycle. This isn't an issue if you go for the one dvd at a time subscription obviously.

The screenclick website seems a lot more user-friendly and efficient. The busybee one is a little bit of a mess.

Busybee pros: their one dvd at a time rental package is currently cheaper than screenclick, @ €9.95 for new customers vs €14.95 with screenclick.

    Hope this helps someone.

I tried one of screenclick's free/cheap offers and wasn't overly impressed:

I'd say about 1 in 6 DVDs were badly scratched or would not play - they were sending out the DVDs without any plastic cover on them

The new releases were difficult to get - you always seemed to get the older movies sent to you.

The website was pretty crap - didn't work at all with firefox

    ....just my 2 cents worth!

I signed up to the o2 screenclick.com offer and found it ok but this is based on having received 4 dvds and only watched 3! As shaneos said, the dvds can be scratched quite badly, maybe 30/40 seconds of unwatchable scenes.
The DVDs can also be slow arriving, but I would blame that on the postal service!

So for a free service its ok, but if I was paying €15 per month I wouldnt be happy with getting scratched dvds this regularly.

    Interesting.

I use Firefox and haven't really had a problem with the Screenclick site.

Also I received 8 movies in the course of a month and none were scratched, and they all came in plastic covers. Maybe they've improved the service? At one stage some DVDs were delayed and I rang and they sent out the next two on my list.

I do think they are a bit cheeky trying to charge €14.95 for the single DVD at a time option. Presumably that's to try to steer people to the €19.95/2 DVD package.
