I'm looking at getting a LCD but not sure if this one is any good. I don't want to spend outrageous amounts so i am looking at getting one for under €300.

    Acer 19''

    Dell one

--Then from there click on save upto 25% on selected flat panel monitors. and its the 1st 19'' thats €299. Dell E193FP.

Just wondering which one is better, now i know Dell is a bigger name and all but is there much difference between the two?

Also if anyone knows of any 19'' LCD's for under 300 let me know.

    thanks alot

The only gripe I'd have with the Acer one is its lack of DVI input. Response time of 16ms is alright, should be fine for games and movies and the like.
That said, the Dell one doesn't have DVI either. Their specs are pretty much identical. I'd prefer to go for a monitor with DVI (unless of course you've got a fairly old PC with no DVI output?)

I wouldnt worry to much about having a dvi port on your gfx card, it shouldnt be too hard to get an adapter, i have 2 floating around heres some where.

Im also looking for a 19" lcd, i like the look of this one.

What swings me on a monitor every time is the company policy on dead pixels. last time i got dell one it had 3 dead pixels - very annoying. dont know what the situation is now with dell or acer but its worth checking out

Can someone also tell me the difference between TFT and LCD screens and which are better?

Off the top of my head:

    TFT - Thin Film Transistor
    LCD - Liquid Crystal Display

LCD is the type of monitor with FTF being the type of display technology.
There was an older technology for LCD's that was pure shít and could be found on cheap laptop displays more than 5 years old.

TFT LCD is the standard these days.

I got the Acer 1914 and its excellent .... it doesnt have DVI but that does not bother me, great for games and no bad pixels .... got mine from Amazon for more than £200 ... its £189 (€273 euro) ... dont know how much they charge for carriage to Ireland ... its free in the UK

If you go for Dell, go for 1905FP - it isn't much more expensive (€380), but is an extremely good monitor. I've one at work for two years.
