Hi All I am planning on learning to play the BASS and I have to get my first BASS> I have found a place on the web where I can get an American Fender P Bass from 800 euro delivered to my work and was wondering would this be a good move for me?

I know it is a lot of money but I believe they are real good BASS and has a good sale value if I give up?

    What are your thoughts?

No, if you're just starting, don't bother with such an expensive guitar.

I say do it. If it doesn't work out you'll at least get your money back. €800 is a good deal for that bass. Plus, learning on a good instrument is easier than learning on a crap one, although sometimes you can learn more through endurance and hardship.

I'd do it. Why did you choose a p bass though?

Yea I have been doing some research on good Bass and that led me to fender.

Then it was explained to me that there are 3 types of fender American Mexican and some where in aisa.

Asked the dudes in waltons and they told me the American P bass had alot better parts and were more hand made. they are selling the same bass for 1600.

Well will sleep on it tonight and will decide in the next day or two.

Try a Jazz bass too. You might like it better. Clunkier sounding than a P bass. What sort of music do you want to play?

Yea a few ppl I know are in the long term process of setting up a band and got no BASS player so that is where I come in ;)

The music will be Rock like but none of that has been agreed on yet so the reason I went for the P BASS was for a good solis versatile bass?

Yep, P basses do the job well, have done for over 50 years. Classic instruments.

If you can afford it, then go for it!

You're right, it will hold imost of it's value in a way that a cheaper bass won't.

Where are you getting it from? If it's non-EU overseas remember to factor in high shipping and import duty.

The precision bass is a nice instrument, though I do prefer the jazz bass myself. It's very thumpy and deep in sound. The Jazz is chunkier and growlier. You might find the jazz bass slightly more versatile than the p bass.

Kennier, the Tokai is slightly different. It's actually a PJ bass. It has the shape and split pickup of a p bass but also has a jazz pickup. I looks like it's from the lower end of the Tokai market.

If it's shop bought, I'd say more than likely you will. Where'd you get it from?

840 is pretty damn good for an American Jazz. Even with tax.
