Free Stuff at Repeat Exams

    Hi folks…

I’ve been organising stuff to hand out at the repeats in Blackrock for the next two weeks…so far there are bottles of water, lollipops by the thousand, pens and pencils etc..Open to suggestions if anyone can think of anything that should be provided down there every morning and afternoon before the exams start..

Also, if I was going to do a leaflet to hand out with essential information for repeat students, what would that information be? Was thinking of the exam appeals procedure but is that a bit negative to give people who are just about to sit papers? If anyone can think of questions about the repeat exams that they’ve had then I could put together a little FAQ or something..Or maybe no leaflet at all, and Chupa Chups are all we need.

Anyway, feedback is desired and welcome.

Best of luck as well to anyone sitting them.

Was thinking of maybe getting some breakfast bars for the morning..plenty of people probably skipping breakfast due to cramming/trying to figure out where Carysfort Avenue is..

    Nice work.

Not to pick holes but there's also those sitting in Quinn as part of the special requirements sittings for the same exams as are held in Blackrock.

Tbh I'd say leaflets will just be wasted. Make the information available online (not just on the SU site...here too etc.).

Good to see the SU proactive in a different area to usual :D

Is there one location in both Quinn and the Arts block where people with special requirements are sitting exams? I'll find out tomorrow morning from Exams if nobody here knows and I can try to have someone go down for Monday's papers, and if not then definitely for Tuesday and the rest of the exams..

I'm honestly pretty impressed at your proactive approach to all of this. I sat my summer exams in the arts block and have been told Q105 in Quinn is where they're being held now. I can't say for sure but I'd guess there's no exams in the Arts Block at all this August.

Q105 will get some stuff then, like everyone else.

I'm a bit wary of invading people's privacy if they're sitting exams there for a reason that they don't necessarily want people like me knowing about though, so I might get onto DSS and/or the Exams Office about just giving them the stuff to hand out beforehand..like I said I might not be able to get this done by tomorrow morning but definitely by Tuesday :)

You're Jane Horgan? Why wasn't I informed! Anyway good stuff on the chuppa chubs front, I remember having one of those before one of my Summer exams and it was very relaxing just to wander around the hall at the RDS eating a lollipop and watching everyone else. Pens and pencils are good; just as a suggestion (and you may already do this, I dunno!) how about having a few calculators handy just in case someone forgets theirs, or it fails on them. I used to have nightmares about my battery going at a crucial time, and brought a mini screwdriver and two AA batteries into most of my exams :D Can't really think of anything else though - most ppl will be pretty nervous, and not feeling much like eating, altohugh those club energise drinks, or even bottles or cups of water would be good to have around. Anyway good luck in organising it, I wish the education officers had been more like this when I was repeating:)

How bout a print out of the 17 bus timetables for those who're comin out early?

Oh & it'd be nice if i'd be able to actually get into the sis area on the ucd site to print out my exham card etc... :(

The SIS thing is odd, I can't get in using any broswer, but one of my mates can. Seems I'm not the only one stuck though! :(

Free pep pills for those entering.
    Free beer for those leaving.

    :D

Em this is probably a silly question but do we need to print out exam cards for these exams again? UCDDs helpful 'no sending of letters or other useful information' policy has shown its head once again

edit: and Ive gotta chime in to say Im pretty impressed with your approach and all that too, nice to see elected people doing something!

Yup you've gotta print the same card again alright and bring it with you to all exams.

I was totally unaware of this as well. Damn.

Actually, I ran against JH-J back in September last year for class rep! I took one look at herself tho and just thought - it would be a f**king crime if these poor bast*rds had me to represent em instead of this bird.

So I never even bothered campaiging after puttin meself on the ballot.
Come to think of it, I don't remember even voting for me...

God my chosen monikor is apt, eh? :D
