For me it has to be Newcastle:

The selling off off of the ego maniacs Bellamy and Robert. The off loading of Kluivert and O'Brien and Ambrose.
The signing of Craig Moore on a free
The signing of Emre and Parker, perhaps the two best players bought outside the top 3.

I agree on Newcastle making the best signings alright, but im not sure if they've impressed me most. Did bolton not get your man Borgetti yet?

It'll take a lot more than parker and emre to sort out newcastle. They have a terrible defense. If they dont sort that out, they are going nowhere to be honest....

    Arsenal

ALTHOUGH they have more flaws than any other title contender, Arsenal also have more flair. Wenger sacrificed his attacking principles for the first time since he came to England at the FA Cup final, but he is unlikely to do the same over the season. Arsenal will win games with more panache, but they need a new goalkeeper - Shay Given should be bought - another defender and a midfielder to replace Patrick Vieira. Cesc Fabregas is exciting and an injury-free Gilberto will add protection but Arsenal, despite Wenger's gift for alchemy, will struggle to compete in Chelsea's world.

IN: A Hleb (VfB Stuttgart, £10m), Armand Traore (AS Monaco, undisclosed)

OUT: P Vieira (Juventus, £13.7m), S Taylor (Aston Villa, £1m), G Stack (Reading, loan), J Aliadiere (Celtic, loan), Edu (Valencia, free), S Svard (Vitoria Guimaraes, free), D Karbassiyoon (Burnely, free).

    PREDICTION: Runners-up

    Aston Villa

VILLA just held on to their dominance in Birmingham last season but they will need to do more. There is frustration among the supporters and David O'Leary's attempts to play the poor mouth are wearing thin. If Villa do not progress this season, O'Leary will be in for a hard time. Villa haven't gambled financially like other clubs, but they could spend a bit of the hoarded cash. The signing of Milan Baros would make a lot of sense. Angel is a good striker, but moody and Kevin Phillips was an outstanding goalscorer in his day. But the day has come and gone.

IN: P Berger (Portsmouth, free), A Hughes (Newcastle United, £1.5m), K Phillips (Southampton, £1m), S Taylor (Arsenal, £1m).

OUT: T Hitzlperger (VfB Stuggart, free), S Moore (QPR, free), S Cooke (Bournemouth, free).

    PREDICTION: 10th

    Birmingham

THE return of Mikael Forssell will add cunning to Birmingham's forward line and Walter Pandiani will bring goals. Just to emphasise that there are leagues within leagues in the Premiership, Heskey was the player of the year at the club last season, but he will bring power as Birmingham fight for a top eight finish and improve on last year's disappointments. Steve Bruce missed out on Bowyer and Craig Bellamy but he may need to strengthen at the back. Upson is eager to leave and Kenny Cunningham is a doubt for the early weeks with a rib injury.

IN: M Forssell (Chelsea, £3m), M Nafti (Racing Santander, undisclosed), N Butt (Newcastle, loan), W Pandiani (Deportivo £3m)

OUT: I Bennett (Leeds United, free), R Blake (Leeds United, £800,000), D Carter (WBA, £1.5m)

    PREDICTION: 8th

    Blackburn

MARK HUGHES knew enough about aggression as a player. When he took over at Blackburn last September, he looked around the Premiership, saw that the small clubs that succeeded where those who fought and ordered his side to do the same. Against Chelsea in the league and Arsenal in the FA Cup, Blackburn went out to do some kicking; they also played some dull football. The signing of Bellamy could change things. The aggression will be even greater but they might score some goals and finish higher up the table.

IN: C Bellamy (Newcastle Utd, £5m), S Kuqi (Ipswich Town, free)

OUT: Jon Stead (Sunderland, £1.8m), J Bothroyd (Perugia, loan ended), N-E Johansson (released), C Short (Sheffield Utd, free)

    PREDICTION: 12th

    Bolton

THEY have a simple football philosophy at Bolton: they do not pay for players. It is with great reluctance that Sam Allardyce throws in a transfer fee to cripple his club with debt on top of whatever wages he is paying his collection of fading European stars and physical wannabees. Allardyce paid something for Diouf but probably not a lot and he will get a few goals and red cards. Hanging on to Jaaskelainen was a good thing as he's an excellent 'keeper. Bolton will be direct and brutal. Teams may hope to cope better this year than they did before.

IN: E-H Diouf (Liverpool, undisclosed), I Walker (Leicester City, free) A Diagne-Faye (Lens, loan), Jared Borgetti (Pachucha, undisclosed)

OUT: A Barness (Plymouth, free), J Talbot (Mansfield Town, free), V Candela (AS Roma, loan ended), F Hierro (retired).

    PREDICTION: 11th

    Charlton

WITH Dean Kiely out for the first few weeks, Charlton could add a bad start to their traditional post-February slump and if they do it could be a struggle. There were signs last season that Alan Curbishley was losing his enthusiasm for the job and if the players start going through the motions then one of the most trumpeted success stories of small-team survival could be at an end. There's a possibility they could lose a couple more of their best players before the deadline ends.

IN: D Bent (Ipswich Town, £2.5m), J Spector (Manchester United, loan), D Ambrose (Newcastle Utd, £700,000), K Youga (Lyon, free), C Powell (West Ham, free), A Smertin (Chelsea, loan), G Sorondo (Internazionale, loan)

OUT: P Conches (West Ham, £1.5m)

    PREDICTION: 18th

    Chelsea

WHILE Chelsea still wait on Michael Essien, they have added extravagantly to their team, no matter what Mourinho says. Shaun Wright-Phillips is an attacking player with pace who may dislodge Damien Duff from the right side of midfield for Premiership games. In the big matches, expect Duff on the left and Wright-Phillips on the right. Arjen Robben will beat Blackburn but he doesn't want to know when the games are bigger. Chelsea, however, have plenty who do. With the aura of champions and the smell of money, the mediocre will roll over and they may win as easily as Peter Kenyon expects.

IN: S Wright-Phillips (Manchester City, £21 million), A Del Horno (Athletic Bilbao, £8m), S Sinclair (Bristol Rovers, undisclosed), T Lyskov (Reading, compensation to be resolved).

OUT: M Forssell (Birmingham City, £3M) M Kezman (Atletico Madrid, £5.3m), S Parker, (Newcastle Utd, £6.5m), Alexei Smertin (Charlton Athletic, loan).

    PREDICTION: Champions

    Everton

DAVID MOYES' side need to rediscover the form they showed in the early months of last season or it could be a trying time. Everton picked up only 18 points after Thomas Gravesen left in January and Moyes has been unable to boost the squad significantly. The Goodison fans expected more than the signing the world wanted, Phil Neville, following qualification for the Champions' League, but if they can get past Villareal in the qualifiers then they may become more attractive. The signs aren't good, Everton have scored only two goals from play in pre-season and lost 5-0 last week to Fenerbahce.

IN: P Kroldrup (Udinese, £5m), S Davies (Tottenham Hotspur, £3.5m), P Neville (Manchester United, £3m), J Ruddy (Cambridge United, £250,000)

OUT: A Gerrard (Walsall, free), D Fox (Walsall, free), A Stubbs, S Watson, E Bosnar, G Plessis (all released).

    PREDICTION: 14th

    Fulham

THEY struggle anyway, coping with the departure of Van der Sar can only make things worse. Over the past two years Chris Coleman's side have also lost their goalscoring threat which explains why he is eager to bring Louis Saha back on loan from Manchester United. But Fulham had high expectations when Mohammed Al Fayed took over the club, now they struggle to match Saha's wages while the glamour is all down the road at Chelsea. Michael Jackson may make an appearance, which is something to look forward to.

IN: H Helguson (Watford, £1.3m), A Elrich (Busan Icons, undisclosed), J Drobny (Panionios, free)

OUT: A Cole (Manchester City, free), E van der Sar (Manchester United, £2m), J Bonnissel, L Clark, S Doherty, S Noble, R Flitney, M Buari (all released).

    PREDICTION: 15th

    Liverpool

IT'S not his style to say it, but Rafael Benitez expects Liverpool to compete for the Premiership this season. However, he is still a couple of players short. The squad has become much stronger, but while they wait to sign central defensive cover, Liverpool look vulnerable at the back, thanks to the aging Hyypia. Crouch could be an exciting signing. If he was 6'2" and did what he did last season, every top club would have wanted him. Instead, he is dismissed as a freak for being 6'7", something which should make him better, not worse. He would work well with Owen. Cisse looks like being the last of the Houllier duds.

IN: P Crouch (Southampton, £7m), J M Reina (Villarreal, £6m) M Sissoko (Valencia £5m), A Barragan (Seville, free), B Zenden (Middlesbrough, free), M Gonzalez (Albacete, loan)

OUT: E-H Diouf (Bolton, undisclosed) A Diarra (Lens, £2m), I Biscan (Panathinaikos, free), V Smicer (Bordeaux, free) R Partridge (Sheff Wed, free), C Kirkland (WBA, loan), B Cheyrou (Bordeaux, loan), Anthony le Tallec (Sunderland, loan).

    PREDICTION: 4th

    Man City

STUART PEARCE showed his potential last season, now with money to spend from the sale of Wright-Phillips, he will need to strengthen the squad. Excellent defensively last year, the loss of Richard Dunne is a big blow to the start of the campaign and a reminder that there is much to improve. The villain of that incident, Joey Barton, says he has learned his lesson, but we'll wait and see. Cole and Vassell will get goals. If they can keep them out, as they did last season, they may claim the European place.

IN: D Vassell (Aston Villa, £2m), K Musampa (Atletico Madrid, loan), A Cole (Fulham, free)

OUT: S Wright-Phillips (Chelsea, £21m), J Macken (Crystal Palace, £1m), P Bosvelt (Heerenveen, free), S McManaman, K Stuhr-Ellegaard (both released), M Bischoff (Cardiff City, undisclosed)

    PREDICTION: 7th

    Man Utd

ALEX FERGUSON has sorted out his goalkeeping problem, but he still needs to find a successor to Roy Keane if they are to win the Premiership and stop the slow decline. Michael Ballack's name has been mentioned, but Ferguson may have noted the collapse in Tim Cahill's contract negotiations at Everton. Cahill's attitude is similar to Keane's and he would be a long-term replacement. When Everton beat United at Goodison last season, Cahill set about United's midfield in a manner reminiscent of Keane's arrogant, youthful assault on Bryan Robson when he played at Old Trafford as a Nottingham Forest player.

IN: E van der Sar (Fulham £2m), Park Ji Sung (PSV Eindhoven, £4m), B Foster (Stoke City, £750,000)

OUT: R Carroll (West Ham, free), Ricardo (Osasuna, free), S Hogg (Shrewsbury Town, free), D Poole (Yeovil Town, free), D Nardiello (Barnsley, free), J Spector (Charlton Athletic, loan), P Neville (Everton £3m)

    PREDICTION: 3rd

    Middlesbrough

THERE has always been a lot of ambition at the Riverside but it has been limited by the reluctance of players to play for Middlesbrough. The Champions League remains a target but Boro are losing players they need to replace. Zenden left for Liverpool on a free transfer, even though Steve McClaren was eager from him to stay and Viduka may move on to Newcastle. A lot will be expected of Yakubu upfront and Downing on the wing. McClaren will probably become England's manager after the World Cup so he may want to do something to justify the appointment this year.

    IN: Yakubu (Portsmouth, £7.5m), E Pogatetz (B Leverkusen, £1.8m)

OUT: B Zenden (Liverpool, free), A Davies, (Derby County, loan), A Taylor (Bradford City, loan)

    PREDICTION: 9th

    Newcastle

WHERE there is Newcastle, there will always be entertainment. It's their bottom line and they will go to any lengths, as Bowyer and Dyer showed last season, to provide it. Bowyer has remained at the club despite attempts to sell him, but after a reportedly excellent pre-season, Souness and Shepherd now want him to stay. Bowyer, however, has a long memory. Newcastle have the talent: Dyer could have an excellent season playing off the centre-forward and Emre has class which may translate to the Premiership. Of course, neutrals will wish for the signing of Anelka, He would push Souness over the edge.

IN: S Parker (Chelsea, £6.5m), Emre (Internazionale, £3.8m) T Krul (Den Haag, undisclosed)

    OUT: D Ambrose (Charlton, £700,000), C Bellamy (Blackburn Rovers, £5m), A Hughes (Aston Villa, £1.5m), A O'Brien (Portsmouth, £2m), L Robert (Portsmouth, loan), P Kluivert, J McClen (released)

    PREDICTION: 6th

    Portsmouth

ALAIN PERRIN appears to be offering something exciting for Portsmouth fans still pining for the days of endless transfer activity under Harry and Jim. Portsmouth only stayed up last season due to the stunning mediocrity of most of the Premiership and they'll be hope to ride above them again while showing a bit more class. Steve Marlet has been mentioned as a possible signing and Robert should show enough quality to win them games and enough sloth to cost them a few as well.

IN: A O'Brien (Newcastle United, £2m), L Robert (Newcastle Utd, loan), J Vlafara (Once Caldas, £1.5m)

OUT: Yakubu (Middlesbrough, £7.5m), P Berger (Aston Villa, free), S Stone (Leeds United, free), R Duffy (Coventry City, loan), S Cooper, S Hislop, H Foxe, C Clark (all released).

    PREDICTION: 13th

    Sunderland

MICK McCARTHY did a fine job with few resources in winning the Championship last year and bringing Sunderland back to the Premiership. McCarthy's skill is in uniting a beleaguered group into believing they are fighting for the same thing and he will have to do something similar this season, but at a much higher level, if Sunderland are to scrape by. He has brought in some interesting players, Stubbs from Everton will bring experience and Le Tallec has been touted for a long time. Elsewhere, the squad looks thin.

IN: M Woods (Leeds United, free), T Miller (Ipswich Town, free), J Stead (Blackburn, £1.8m), K Davis (Ipswich Town, £1.2m), N Nosworthy (Gillingham, free), D Murphy (Waterford, £100,000) A Le Tallec (Liverpool, loan) A Stubbs (Everton, free).

    OUT: S Thornton (Doncaster Rovers, £175,000), T Myhre, J Whitley, M Stewart, B Deane, M Ingham (released)

    PREDICTION: 19th

    Tottenham

SPURS hope to become the closest of the rest this season and they appear to have more of what is required than anybody else. The defection of Frank Arnesen to Chelsea may have disrupted stability, but head coach Martin Jol always seems assured, freely offering opinions on other managers and anything else that crosses his mind. Tottenham have been busy buying every young English player and have added Edgar Davids for some eccentric experience. If he can lead, Defoe can score and Andy Reid can enjoy himself on the wing, Spurs could have a good season.

IN: T Huddlestone (Derby County, £2.5m) P Stalteri (Werder Bremen, free), A Lennon (Leeds United, £1m), W Routledge (Crystal Palace, £2m), T Tainio (Auxerre, free), E Davids (Internazionale, free)

OUT: R Ricketts (Wolves, free), S Davies (Everton, free)

    PREDICTION: 5th

    West Brom

NOBODY expected West Brom to stay up last season, least of all their supporters who were booing Bryan Robson after a couple of matches and calling for the return of Gary Megson. But a few inspirational home performances changed everything and they met the path of least resistance on the final day against a safe Portsmouth side who were happy to know that Southampton could go down if they lost. Things will be equally tough this time, but they have a good, if injury-prone, goalkeeper in Kirkland and they will have plenty of fight upfront from Campbell and Horsfield.

IN: D Carter (Birmingham City, £1.5m), C Kirkland (Liverpool, loan), S Watson (Everton, free), D Kamara (Modena, £1.5m)

OUT: R Hulse (Leeds United, £1.1m), K Richardson (Manchester United, loan ended), D Purse (Cardiff City, £1m), A Sakiri (released)

    PREDICTION: 16th

    West Ham

THEY turned on Alan Pardew at Upton Park last season and, despite promotion, they could do it again if West Ham look like going down without a fight. They sold a team which would have been close to winning the Premiership over the past five years at Upton Park, so the least the supporters expect is survival. Sheringham will battle on for another season, but they have been linked with Kanoute which makes sense. Their first 11 is good enough to get enough points. The Israeli Benayoun looks lightweight and may not last.

IN: R Carroll (Man Utd, free), S Hislop (Portsmouth, free), Y Benayoun (Racing Santander, £2.5m), P Konchesky (Charlton Athletic, £1.5m), Danny Gabbidon (Cardiff City, undisclosed)

OUT: S Rebrov (Dynamo Kiev, free), R Brevett (Plymouth Argyle, free).

    PREDICTION: 17th

    Wigan

WHEN Wigan were promoted they made the foolish mission statement that it was British players they were looking for, none of this foreign muck. Their two most significant signings so far have been a Swiss and a Frenchman as the realities take hold. With Chelsea on the opening weekend, the chasm will quickly become clear. Graham Kavanagh will bring aggression and purpose to midfield, but it is unlikely Jewell will be able to pull off the great survival trick as he did with Bradford six years ago.

IN: P Chimbonda (Bastia, undisclosed), M Pollitt (Rotherham, £150,000), R Taylor (Tranmere Rovers, £750,000), S Henchoz (Celtic, free)

OUT: I Breckin (Nottingham Forest, £350,000), N Eaden (Nottingham Forest, free), J Jarrett (Norwich City, free) P Mitchell (MK Dons, free), G Whalley (Swindon Town, undisclosed)

    PREDICTION: 20th

I think West Ham have done quite well in the transfer market:

    Clive Clarke
    Shaka Hislop
    Yossi Benayoun
    James Collins
    Daniel Gabbidon
    Paul Konchesky
    Roy Carroll

Pardrew has strengthened his defence, he has signed Benayoun ( class playmaker) and is closing in for that Monaco stricker that everyone is after.

Saying that thou, i'm not familiar with the rest of the squad.

Clive Clarke will hopefully push Maybury out of the Ireland squad. He's a left footed left back.

I think Aston Villa have made some very good signings, especially in Berger and Phillips. I think O' Leary has been right on the ball in the transfer market since he joined Villa.
Rafa has also done a good job so far this summer with Liverpool, getting rid of some of the remaining dead-wood left over from the Houlier days (and some of his own, like Nunez and Pellegrino) and adding some good players, especially Zenden, who has argueably been Boro's best player for the last two seasons.
Newcastle, despite losing a lot more players than they've brought in, have made some good deals. A lot of people talk about the ratio of players who have gone out to those who have come in, but the ones that have come in like Emre and Parker are a hell of a lot better than the likes of Robert.

I always get worried when Liverpool buy wingers! Who was the last decent wide man they had? Steve McManaman? YONKS! (he was crap anyway)

The list of duds is nuts:
Vladmier "i cant kick a ball" Smicer
    Antonio "i can't cross a ball" Nunez
Emile "i'm a sticker not a winger" Heskey
Richie "Irelands next big thing" Partridge
El Hadj " i'm a stricker also" Diuof
and i have a feeling the same is going to happen to
Bobo "i'm the dutch kevin kilbane" Zenden

Liverpool could do with a proper winger, if they signed Shawn Wright Philips they would have been competing for the league this season IMO

Not sure how an opinion can be complete crap, does this comment have anything to do with the Indo predicting Everton to go back to playing at their normal level I wonder...

(I'm not a Pool fan, Palace all the way baby). Smcier is a odd player. Some days he can be great and others he can be awfull. He had a great Euro Campaign last year with the Czech Rep but his inconsistencies will be his downfall.

that and others... how a pundit can predict that a team that finished 4th last year can drop to 14th is beyond me... They have brought more players in, though not a whole lot and he is basing their whole league season on some pre-season results? bad research and journalism i think.

Bolton to finish 11th? They had a great season last year as well. Just because they aren't a 'fashionable' team, they (along with everton in this case) get dismissed straight away.

    Charlton to be relegated???

Man City 7th? I like city but they haven't replaced what they've let go. SWP was a huge loss for them. I would like to see 7th for city, but unless they make some signings i worry for them.

Newcastle 6th? I dont see it unless they make at least 3 or 4 big signings before deadline day. They need defenders, midfielders and attackers. Shearer is really their only recognised striker. Milner is young but hasnt really proven himself yet. Under Souness i see only bad things for newcastle.

Just in general the whole article seemed a bit amatuerish and like something one would read on a message board :D

Plenty of teams have finished very high one season then very low the next. Remember Ipswich? Everton were relegation candidates this time a year ago, so I don't think predicting a 14th finish is all that silly. I don't think any of the other predictions are particularily outlandish, and afterall - they're predictions. Surprises always happen.

Yes, yes, yes... Everyone remembers Ipswich. Doesn't mean it will happen to other teams.

So finishing 4th didn't prove to everyone that they are not relegation candidates? What do we have to do? Win the premiership to prove this???

So 2 seasons ago they finished 15th or whatever it was, and so last season they were predicited for the same fate? This is what I understand from your statement.
So this year, seeing that last year they finished 4th, they should finish in the top 6 this year.... Im just going by previous seasons finishing here and applying your logic. So i dont really see where you are coming from with this...

Yes, Not very well informed predictions. Charlton, come on? Do you really think they will be relegated?

Consistency. They finished 17th the season before that.

I think it's funny that you're accusing the Indo of being uninformed when you don't even know what position your own team finished in a season that ended less than a year and a half ago :)

That certainly isn't my logic, though you can pretend it is, if you like. Everton have consistently been mid-table to relegation strugglers for years now, and so I don't think it's unreasonable that the one season when they finish 4th is nothing more than a blip.
Yes, Not very well informed predictions. Charlton, come on? Do you really think they will be relegated?
Doesn't matter what I think, they aren't my predictions. Just because they don't align with your views doesn't mean they are misinformed, he's given his reasons for why he thinks Charlton will go down, they seem good enough as any to me.

Aston Villa seem to have done well for their limited funds - Phillips and Berger for a combined total of £1 million.
Chelsea (obviuosly) have signed the best quality players but they spent way more than any other club this summer.
Liverpool have some smart signings in Crouch, Sissoko (he's impressed me in the preseason games so far), Reina and Zenden. Rafa has also cleared out a lot of crap players - Cheyrou, Smicer, Diouf
Newcastle have also made some good signings although they've let a couple of good players go - C Bellamy, A O'Brien and Kluivert

    Best value - Liverpool/Aston Villa
    Top Players - Chelsea

Man Utd and Arsenal really need to start making some good signings. Arsenal have a Viera sized gap to fill and apart from Park Ji Sung Utd. haven't added much quality to their squad.

Totally unrealistic to suggest that they might not be able to follow up on their good league finish from the previous year then, eh.

No, that's you taking what I said and running off in your own direction with it. There are serious consistency issues when a team finishes 17th and then finishes 4th. Everyone strengthens their team over the summer, it's all relative.

teams that have done well, then get relegated/finished low in the league:

    Nott'm Forest
    Blackburn
    Newcastle
    Ipswitch
    Leeds

off the top of my head in the last few seasons. I also remember leicester/derby/west ham having fairly good seasons before going down a couple of years later.

Sheffield Wednesday were top of the league 5/6 games in a few years ago, winning all their matches, then went down the season after.

Anyway, does anyone remember the joke from about 8/9 years ago?

Whats the difference between a triangle and everton?

A triangle has more points =)

That was 10/11 games into the season, and they performed a minor miracle (and a manager change, wasn't it Joe Royle?), to get out of it.

He has been able to boost the squad. Hopefully more to come. Their squad is in better shape than it was at the end of last season. They scored 3 goals in their pre-season games. The fenerbache match was a good test against top european opposition. Its better to get a scare like that, than play some 3rd division team and give them a pasting. Better to learn the problems now that after the villarreal tie. They also played pre-season games in austria and won all those games, so he hasn't researched their preseason properly.

So what do all those other clubs have to do with Everton? Thats right, absolutely nothing.

Leeds' implosion was their own fault. They based to much on qualifying for the champs league and didn't. Very bad management, spent way too much money and ran the club into the ground. I don't see that scenario happening at Everton.

Not everyone will be enamoured with the investments they've made though. I think they are decent signings, but I wouldn't blame someone for disagreeing.

I stand corrected. Obviously a 5-0 defeat to European heavyweights Fenerbahce proves that the guy from the Indo is talking complete arse so.

No, you're completely ignoring the context of what I said. I was talking about teams being inconsistent, mentioning Ipswich as an example. I then followed this on by pointing out that Everton are inconsistent, ie. they were relegation candidates the season before. It's not unreasonable to suggest that Everton might finish 14th this season, because they are inconsistent. Not because they finished 17th in 2003/04.

i really enjoyed spurs last season thought they had some excellent young players and their signings this year will surely further imrpove their squad. in particular routledge is a good signing imo.

parker and emre are very good signings but as pointed out above defence will be key to newcastle's season.

i like the look of spector, ambrose and bent at charlton, i heard they were about to sign king from spurs, not sure what happened that transfer but that would be an excellent signing.

European heavyweights, no. A team with a lot of european experience, yes. They are a good side. Better than Everton. Its teams like this that we need the experience against. Our last European tie was in 1996 against feyenoord...

Ok. I get what you are saying, but I have pointed out many times now about everton not adding sufficiently to the squad in the past. Because of this good finish they are trying to add to what they have. Previously they didn't do this enough.
They are not in the debt that they once where, due to the rooney sale and investment that has been brought into the club. They are in a lot better position financially to build on what they achieved last year. They haven't been able to do this in the past. Therefore this is why i see this prediction as mere trashy journalism on this guys part. He's taken the easy option and proposed that everton will fall apart...
