    Just bought a DVD Recorder.
Suggestions as to where I can get good (cheap) discs both +RW and +R please. Is there any difference between these discs and the DVD Discs for a computer DVD RW?

Some DVD recorders can be a bit picky about the discs they'll accept because of the dye used in the creation of the discs, if you find one that works for yours then try and keep using discs with the same dye.

Am I reading this right that you can use the same discs in a computer dvd writer drive and one that you use for taping off the TV (either R or RW+ discs)?
If so why would you buy 8X over 4X if you're using the discs for a (TV recording) DVD Recorder or am I missing something?

Hi oki: I have used, and am using, Bulkpak R+ 4x in both my DVD recorder and computer. And these work! Don't know about 8x tho'. regards

    Cheers hansov.
So there's no difference for a TV DVD Recorder which speed you use,
    it's only for a computer that there's a difference between 8X and 4X.
So there's no point in buying a load of 8X if 4X is okay for a (TV) DVD recorder?

Sorry, I don't know the answer to that one. :) I am a fan of the "if it ain't broke....." principle. I might try an 8x to see what happens but I bought a load of 4x's too from svp.co.uk recently and the missus is wondering am I going into the DVD business :D:D

8x speed is of no benifit in your DVD recorder as it will only be recording in real time presumably.. I personally advise keeping away fron Bulkpak discs , they are not the most reliable or compatible discs around..If you are having problems playing discs recorded in your recorder try different brands..

Tell her, they're a tenth of the size of a video so the same amount will take up less space ;)

guys/gals: The only reason I am using bulkpaq is that they were the first that I bought. So I am not actually recommending them (or for that matter not recommending them), just telling you what is working for me. I think I have no bulkpaq left and so I move to a different brand next week.

Some recorders do high speed dubbing from the HD on the recorder onto the DVD. I know that if I record a 1 hour program on the HD, edit out the ads and then dub it onto DVD it takes about 5 minutes to go acorss and finalise so I assume this isn't done in real time.
