Anyone know where I'd be able to get a Miniature Schnauzer pup in Ireland?

    Thanks!

Try this from the Irish Kennel Club website (which you could easily have found yourself, too :) )

Brought my Mini Schnauzer home 2 weeks ago. I sourced her from an UK kennel Club Accredited breeder. Sadly, I was unable to source one here that had all the health checks done etc. Breeder MUST have the eye tests done as the breed suffers from a number of heriditary disorders of the eyes. There is no exception to this and you must have the health cert from the vet detailing that the parents have been screened and each puppy in the litter. Do not even look at any puppies who are not eye tested. Cross check the registration number of the puppy with that on the health cert.

I flew over with Aer Lingus and home with Aer Arann who charge £18 to fly a dog UK to Ireland with them and they were excellent. Aer Lingus no longer fly pets some of the UK airlines may.

I haven't looked back since. I have a wonderful puppy with all the health warrants, registrations, vaccinations, pedigree, bloodline etc done properly. Also she was well on the way to being house trained and hasn't had any accidents. She was also very well socialised by the breeder and she is a pleasure to have.

Details on UK kennel club accredited breeders here:

Hope that info helps. Good luck. You are welcome to meet my little one anytime you want.

Just thought I could help clarify as regards Ms Betts, Sec. of the Min. Schnauzer Club.
I have phoned numberous times over a two week period and left at least four messages on her answering maching and to date have gotten no reply. I had the same experience a few months ago when I tried to contact her prior to buying a min.schnauzer puppy. Just thought people would like to know they are not alone in hitting a block wall when looking for qualified information when trying to buy their pet.

    Hi,

Further to this, I am looking to get a black&silver puppy hopefully this summer or later this year. They seem to be hard to find. I have my mind set on this colour as I had one before.

Are there any reputable breeders in Ireland who breed them? Or would I be better off looking in the UK or elsewhere? I am not too bothered about it being a good show dog (although it would be a bonus) as long as the dog is healthy and friendly.
