another night of ridiculous beats. Im not gonna turn this into another bad beat thread cos frankly im getting sick of writing them. Suffice is to say AGAIN I get knocked out of a tournament on a bad beat. A K beaten by A Q when he rivers a flush with his Ace when 4 diamonds hit the board. And that was the 2nd time tonight my A K got beaten by A Q.

Built up a good stack when I get 6d2d in BB. Turn brings a third diamond and I end up all in with another boardster (sorry forgot to ask your name!) who turns over JdQd. Flush beaten by flush. Nothing I can do there....

Knocked down to 400 but luckily quadrupled up on the last hand before the break. Topped up to about 3.5K.

First hand after the break and I made probably the best laydown ive ever made. Got Queens in the BB with blinds 100/200 and UTG made it 500. Everyone folded and I flat called, because I didnt feel too happy about the way he made the raise. He was going to raise small, then grabbed a load of chips as if he was gonna raise big, then eventually made a small raise. He seemed very uneasy.

Anyway flop comes 2 3 4 rainbow. I check again just too see what he does. He again bets 500, and then I realised i was beat. Dont ask me how but I just knew he had aces or kings. I folded, showing the queens, announcing 'you have them', and he dutifully showed his aces. Everyone applauds me on such a great laydown but that doesn't help when I've lost the hand does it?

Built up my stack to about 3,500, then I got knocked out. would have been on about 8,000 and in a good position, but yet again Pokah pisses on my parade....

Now Im happy with how I played but my head is fcukin wrecked with this continuous string of bad beats I keep getting. Every tournament I have entered since I split the fitz one, I have been knocked out by a bad beat.

I don't mean to sound cocky but I haven't made a big mistake in a tournament in a long while. I think my game has improved hugely but I have nothing to show for it. Any night I don't get a bad beat in a big hand I usually do pretty good.

I think I might take a month off poker cos its getting ridiculous now. Every game I play I build up a stack and then lose it all on one hand with a bad beat. Theres enough people that post here that have seen how bad my luck is both online and in the fitz. Its fcuking unreal. I wouldn't mind if it was a part of my game I could improve but how can you improve your luck?

Anyway, anyone that is moaning about a bad beat or a bad run of luck please come and watch me play and i guarantee you will consider yourself lucky

Wahey, I got a ticket in my first go. \o/

I thought this thread was going to be about me for a second, I only had one way of playing with my short stack for about 2 hours solid and I think I sucked out in about 6 different hands when I got it in behind, gambling like a maniac.

yeah that was me at your table with the better flush :D

yeah was really impressed by that laydown, but was outraged you d play so seriously and proper in a freeroll!

wasnt wearin a black jacket, was wearin jeans and a white t shirt.

in fairness you hadnt a huge stack when u got that bad beat (saw far worse ones at the final table), plus you did manage to deal yourself aces twice, the only ones at the table i believe, nothing dodgy there :D
one of which cleaned me out when i had kq on a queen high flop

managed to steal enough blinds as a low stack to sneak onto the final table,
went out on the dreaded bubble around 7th 0r 8th with 5 tickets i believe.
Couldnt really get any kind of hands. Annoyin as the standard didnt seem great at that table

stuck it in on the steal with 106 hearts, and ran into a6 in the blinds, last hand i wanted to see!

if anyone was there to the end i was just wondering did that chip leader get a ticket, i hope he did. 3 hand in a row he had hands dominated like aq v kq and lost them all!

Hm, I'm a bit hazy, but that KQ vs AQ sounds like me hitting my king on the river, and I don't think he did make it into the tickets if it was the guy I'm thinking of.

    lol
yeah it woz, he was down the end near me, no justice in poker!

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 10,501 Mod ✭✭✭✭ecksor

You weren't the chap that tried that steal with 52s were you?

My BB, SB makes a big raise, I say "you're a thief" and throw away jack high. He says "You're right" and shows me the 52s not realising that there was another player left. Everyone at our end sees it, but the previous limper didn't and I don't think he realised why everyone was trying to keep a straight face. He calls the raise. Flop comes with a pair, check check, and 52 picks up a flush draw on the turn when the board makes trips. Original limper, bets, SB calls, river makes a full house on the board for a split pot.

no thats not me, he was the guy who took me out, i was the guy beside the fella in the hand with the 52 thief, me and him wer the only two that didnt see his hand and werent in on the joke

basically i was the low stack beside the poker desk who went out with 106 in about 8th, the big stack at the start of the final table was 2 to my left, i was moanin about not gettin a hand even good enough to stick it all in with!

Has to be one of the best lay downs ever in the Fitz freeroll. In fairness, if it was a major tournament everyone would be raving about it. Well done. Pity about the bad luck.

in the 45 minutes or so I was there for last night I don't think I've ever before seen so many bad beats in such a short space of time it was quite nauseating I had to leave

I know, but I've been playing a lot more big games more regularly now, and I'm beginning to think about my game and concentrate on hands a lot more. I know it was 'just a freeroll' as you pointed out EVERY HAND! And I go crazy before the break too, but I plan on playing every monthly game so it will still save me 270euro which isin't to be laughed at.

In fairness, the freerolls can be a bit of a joke, but as you near the final table the standard does get closer to that of the big games

Play the big one....you will injoy it.

I have a €270 from Thursday night and a €250 from tonight. I'm selling the €250 and will probably use the €270 to play (too tempted not to more than likely), although my unemployed student status may dictate otherwise.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 21,254 Mod ✭✭✭✭Dub13

well done....if you dont sell the credit here you will have no problem selling it on the night.

Ok, thanks. I never set foot in a card room before last Wednesday night so I'm not really sure what to expect or how these things typically work.
