Cross-Reading. Nonsense, sense and sometimes funny!

What's cross-reading? It's a slightly different approach to reading a newspaper or magazine. Normally they have articles in columns. Now, instead of reading down one column what you do is read across into the next column on the same line and then back to the first one on the next line. You can do it across several columns; they can be from the same story or a different one; it doesn't matter. Take this example from the back page of today's Irish Independent. A story about Jennifer Aniston's reaction to seeing photos of Brad Pitt and Angelian Jolie is beside a story police looking for Columbian rebels. Cross-reading you get this:

Jennifer Aniston has Police are scouring the confessed she still loves mountains of northern Brad Pitt and was Columbia for a leftist rebel "shocked" and "hurt" to unit blamed for a roadside see pictures of him with bomb attack on a new love Angelina Jolie. government convoy that "Am I lonely? Yes she killed at least 15 elite officers. told Vanity Fair maga- The bombing was the latest zine. AmI upset? Yes. by the Revolutionary Armed Am I confused? Yes Do I Forces of Columbia or Farc, thrown a little pity party President Alvaro Uribe's for myself Absolutely re-election hopes.
    :)

Sometimes you do get total rubbish but sometimes it can make perfect sense or be very funny. Try it and see what you come up with and maybe post it here.

Yeah, it's bits like that, that read perfectly and make sense in their own way but are still funny, that are good. You get little gems like that sometimes.

I used to love playing mixing when I had my walkman radio. I'd turn the dial quickly to the first channel I got and then in time to the tempo would flick (and do a bit o' "scratchin") to another radio station, then back to the original, then to another.

Or Telly surfing to the news is fun too.

Its possible to read a whole book in a very short time if you only read one random line from each page

When BBC and UTV are reading the soccer results at the same time, you can switch between each channel after each team score. It can be funny at times with the different intonations for wins, losses and draws being mixed.
