    Hi everyone,

    I have a project that requires the computer to be in one room and the monitor to be in another, so they may be a fair distance apart. I'm just wondering does anyone know what the maximum distance a monitor can be placed from the computer without affecting the quality severely.

    Also, if anyone knows of any devices that can extend the range of the monitor, I'd be very thankful.

    Thanks!

    Can't really answer your question, but;
    - They do sell monitor extension cables, buy a few & string them together. Find out. Let us know.
    - If your GFX card has a TV-Out, try using this.
    What kind of app is it for ?

    How far away can the pc be from the monitor? The length of the cable! :D
    Longest cable I’ve seen is 15m on Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/10392261/ref=br_bx_1_c_1_1/202-9012789-5722232) you could run it through the wall or the attic.

    At a guess I’d say the signal would start to degrade if you get a cable too long perhaps 15m is the longest but I’m not sure about that.

    After 5 Metres, the signal will start to degrade noticeably at higher resolutions. At lower resolutions with a good quality cable, you should be ok.
