    Hi,

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, so mods please move if necessary.

A freind sent me a jpeg, but for some reason, either her or my system renamed it .dat. I'm fairly sure it was her side. I renamed it to .jpeg but it won't open up for me now.

Anyone know what I can do to fix this? Resending the picture is not an option at the moment..

    Cheers,

    Kev.

Save the file to your desktop.

Right Click and choose 'Open With' and 'Choose Program'
Then select the program you use to view pictures, something like 'Windows Picture and Fas Viewer' and select 'Always use this program.....'

    That should work, I think.

Try Iefanview - if a image file is incorrectly named it will tell you and ask if you want to rename. click yes and image will display.

Thats in most cases. As for the windows image/fax viewer, right click on file/select properties/click 'Change' select prog from list and save/ok. If the image header info is there and not corrupted image should display.

hmm you get this in an e-mail? yahoo by any chance? generally saved images from there come in as .bin's and renaming sorts it out.

    Hi,

I've tried doing the 'right click' and 'open with', but to no avail.. Windows Picture Viewer just says 'no preview available'.

    I'll give Iefanview a go. I take it that's a program I can download? I'll google it..

    Cheers,

    Kev.
