    Hmm, difficult question. The 1x12 and 2x12 Spider combos are definitely worth the money, but I'm not sure I'd stick with digital amps if I was planning on spending 700+. What kind of sound are you going for? Maybe a secondhand valve amp would suit you better.

    I have that halfstack, gigged a bit with it... you can get nice tones out of it at low volume and it does handle higher volumes better than it's 2x12" combo counterpart but I can't see myself using it for much longer. I can live with my distortion channels actually, it's not tube distortion but it sounds grand... I can't seem to get nice balanced cleans though, they always seem to end up either too bassy or too twangy and abrasive past the g string (again, this only becomes really apparent at gig volume).

    You could a nice valve Laney for about 650 but that would just be the head though.
