Virus on pc !! help

A friend surfed before loading anti-virus software and now has a bug !!!

I have loaded symantec anti-virus but will not run - it closes down
the minute it's started -
it has loaded and runs fine on my pc -so it's not the cd.

When we finally got to scan for virus' this came up.

virus name :Bloodhound.w32.ep
found in:
windows/system32/sysmgr.exe
windows/system32/ntsysmgr.exe
windows/system32/cool.exe

I cannot find these files manually and the standard windows search
utility also shows up on the screen blank
with no access to anything on it.

how do I stop it or get rid of it.

You should try to scan with Norton in safe mode. That's what I would try at least.

Make a not of the file name.. Restart your computer in safe mode & try deleting them manually

Remember Payload date is Aug 2nd.

So get it fixed before then.

the best way to get around this is to take out the hard drive and put it in another machine with Norton and then run the virus check just on the extra drive
