Price has gone down again to €70.00, thank goodness I didn't buy it last week at €120.00. And it seems we in ROI can at last buy it via the red button, at least the option is there but can I get it to work? no. I get as far as a "please wait" message after going on line and then nothing, anyone have any better luck than me?

The price always drops in the final week or so before the Community Shield.

The number they give you is an automated system. You just use a touch tone phone to dial in your credit card details. I must order it.

I had the same problem using the Red button so just used the UK automated service. It asks for your Viewing Card number, tells you the price in Euro and you enter your credit card details and your done. Premiership here we come and I can't fcuking wait :)

I gave up waiting for them to fix the red button and went to the telephone. You can use the 0818 719819 number so at least you are not calling at a UK call rate.

I hope I entered my viewing card number correctly - they don't repeat it for you to check you entered the right number like they do the credit card number. If you suddenly find yourself with free premplus it might be from my mistake!

I wonder why can't they just put it on your regular Sky bill like box office stuff instead of having to use a credit card?

Also had no success with the red button.

Just stuck on "please wait" for five minutes or more before I gave up and phoned them.

Yeah, I had that uneasy sense too. I wish the automated system would just relay the number & perhaps even confirm your name to instill some confidence. They do say that a receipt will be issued, but if that doesn't arrive, then you are right - somebody else will have a free season ticket :)

I was all ready to give them an earful on not being able to order using the Red Button - so dissapointed to only be talking to a computer !

'Cos an additional €70 p.a. on top of your monthly Sky Sports subscription is so much better value than €120 p.a.???

No offence Strasser, but I can't believe that people are willing to pay this money to Sky (or any one else for that matter) on top of their €60+ monthly subscription. Its nothing else but a rip-off.

I estimate I pay €820 per annum to SKY [ €62.50 * 12 + €70 for PPV season ticket ]. As far as I am concerned I get much, much more value for money from that €820 then I do for the €150 license fee to RTE. The quality & quantity of SKY's Sports coverage is light years ahead of anything else available, in my opinion.

If you are not a sports fan, then I can understand your view point.

Obviously not a footy fan 'cause if you were you'd understand why we'd shell out an extra €70. At the end of the day, €70 spread over 10 months of the Premiership is well worth the extra outlay. I know it's just a way for Sky to sqeeze even more money out of us but I feel it's worth it for the quality of the programmes!

I would get an ART card instead.

    £69 for 6 months subscription.

ART show all the Premplus games and all the Sky games and some more too including 3pm Saturday matches.

I think if you're into football it is good value. It raises another point which I have long felt and I am sorry Mossy if its off topic, start this as a new one if you wish.

We read all sorts of stuff about competition and how we should have lots of broadcasters so they compete with each other and drive the price down. This "logic" has forced the premiership to break up the football rights into I think 4 seperate blocks so different broadcasters can bid for different bits.

Granted Sky currently have I think 3 of these blocks (and RTE do the Sat 3pm slot) but in the future am I destined to be shelling out to lots of different broacasters in order to see my product, that is football.

If rights are shared between say Sky, ITV and Setanta then to see "football" I have to get Sky, pay Setanta sub, pay Chorus to get ITV etc. That would cost me an awful lot more than I currently pay. I'd prefer to pay one price to one broadcaster, doesn't have to be Sky, and be able to see all the football I want. The prospect of clubs having individual rights doesn't even bear thinking about.
