Is there any way of telling if theres any truth in your dreams, I've had numerous dreams in which things have happened that have been closely linked to reality and have been so vivid it was like it was actually happening.

I've had dreams before and a while later (days to weeks) things in it have actually happened. I went to France for the first time about five/six years ago and we went to a little village that had been badly hit during the war, there was still bullets lodged in the wall and all sorts. But as we drove in I felt I had been there before watching everything as I was, in the car, the same conversation all over again, then I began remembering a dream from a wek earlier that contained the same conversation. Later in the day, still in the same village, as I looked around "memories" started to hit me that I had been there during the war, I could hear the stone burst as the bullets hit and feel the ground shake as tanks rolled by and bombs went off in surrounding areas. Since it was my first time in France and I was about 12/13 it was impossible for me to have been there before, so could I have dreamt visiting the place and could the "memories" have been from a past life?

I think so yes.
Due to having simular experiences myself but then again I am one of those
weird pagan types.

I think so, yes. In the past I've had experiences where I'd get a deja vu like feeling and be able to kind of 'remember' what's coming next. At times I've thought that the 'memories' came from dreams originally but that I'd forgotten the dream untill it started to actually happen, if you know what I mean. It hasn't happened for a while but I've been having some pretty vivid, almost lucid dreams lately so I'll have to wait and see what happens

Of course, it's hard to know exactly what processes are going on in our subconcious minds as we sleep and why they show us the things that they do.

I've had 3 dreams recently that all came true. Its very strange, so I really do think that it can happen.
Mine have been about actual people and events that happened rather then places so it wasn't anything to do with past life.
Although I'd love to know if I've had a past life. I have a massive phobia about the Angel of the North and although I'm older then it, there must be something there, maybe a connection with Newcastle.

Been there myself, I'm an ordained pagan high priest, but to be honest, those dreams dont seem to discriminate wether you're pagan, christian, or whatever , from what I see everyone has them from time to time. It has also been proven that people can read about stuff in books, and see stuff on tv and later in life *recall* it as past life stuff.

Freud thought that dreams are a mask, but Freud was wrong on most accounts and there's no way of proving his theory since ... he believed that dreams are a mask. Kind of explains itself.
Most psychologists now believe that dreams are just random images created by your brain that could be related to images captured during your lifetime. Dreams are just REM sleep.

have been having very vivid dreams these last few weeks, really drained too.
Had one last night were I struck gold (oil, fell onto a previously undiscovered oilfield and ended up quite wealthy)
Was talking to someone about it earlier though and a lot fo detail came up. I remember the agency responsible for officiating the oil (???) was called F.E.M.A.
I didnt realise until I woke that fema is the federal emergency managment agency. (US)
I'll just say that a lot of the symbolism in the dream is reflective of political situations. (I did apply it on a personal level too) but at the minute and I'm thinking "watch this space"

I think you'd probably have to deal with FEMA (aswell as the EPA) to sort out contingency plans if there was some kind of disaster either with the production facility or the transport (pipelines, supertankers etc) of the oil. Isn't there another big storm predicted to hit the Gulf of Mexico (where a lot of the US production is) soon ? Also I think I heard something on the news over the weekend about the Dept. of Homeland Security warning that Al Quaeda are planning on hijacking petrol trucks and crashing them into petrol stations. It could follow from that that they might hijack supertankers and crash them into ports ? I think something like that'd get FEMA involved.

initially I thought terrorist attack too.
The oil pipline I discovered was off the west coast of cork /kerry I remember being in the atalantic. But because the agency is an american institution I thought it might be relative to that situation.

An earthquake would be nice around now too.

Have been having vivid dreams myself, but I put that down to pregnancy hormones and my personal stuff thats going on. The ones that feel like premonitions to me, the big difference is Im not in them, its like Im watching on tv.

I had a good one last night. I booked a holiday about 45 minutes before the plane was due to leave. Just as I realised Iwasn't going to be able to make it to the airport on time, I realised I was dreaming and could do anything I wanted. Then I realised that this usually makes me wake up, and I really wanted to go on this holiday so I made myself forget I was dreaming and get on with it. When I got there I realised it was a place I'd dreamed about a few time, I was drifting in and out of lucidity at this stage, kind of like waking up and falling back asleep, but being asleep the whole time. The last time I'd dreamed about it everything was panicked and people were running around everywhere, this time everything was calm but seemed a little on edge or calm-before-the-storm-ish. Don't know if it means anything, maybe I just really, really need a break

I get that feeling too.

Katie I've never heard anyone explain it like that before, makes a lot more sense to be an observer. I always take dreams on several levels..I will read whats in it personally but when I talk about them thre is always a reflection of something bigger going on.

anyway..I doubt any of those oil rigs are in too much danger, its just I don't usually see the words fema and oil rigs in the same sentence in the news everyday. [coincidence?]

So many of my dreams have come true I could not begin to tell them all ,one saved my daughters life some are not relivent but too anyone bt me ow is this happing I know when my friends arent happy and i know if one of my kids will get ill.how do i make sence of my dreams.Ive bought a dream book but some of the strange dreams i have are not shown

start journaling or writing down dreams which you feel are significant and over time you will gain a greater understanding of your own symbolism. I also recommend the website www.dreammoods.com, lots of symbolism there.

back to Katrina, F.E.M.A and the oil rigs, (gulf of mexico) here's what they had to say over at the weatherboard.

Oil production in the region has been shut down to limit damage to the equiptment, and prevent huge leaks if there is much damage, hence the increase in prices today.

I'm kinda suprised myself with this whole story, maybe it's just the reality of the events that have happened in the US kicking in and the humanitarian aspect comming to the fore.
Also, having this thread on paranormal is unusual in the sense of the way in which it has come about. I know we should be discussing precogniton and how it occurs or whatever ..but it seems irrelevant right now.
Currently my thoughts go out to all those affected by the hurricane.

haven't really been keeping up with this thread tbh, but I had the weirdest dream the other night, I don't remember much of it but there were prates lots of pirates and I've never dreamt of pirates before, not that I remember anyway...
