Anyone here just using their PC to make music

I'd be interested in knowing if anyone here just uses their PC to make music, a sequencer and some virtual instruments etc.
I play some guitar but I'm mostly interested in creating electronic stuff, programming my own drum tracks, mashing some samples together, things like that...

Reason sounds right up your street. You get a scaled down version with Pro Tools LE which might also be useful to you.

Or fruity loops. It's another one you can get lost in 'mashing' samples together.

I'm all set up with equipment and software, just wondering if anyone else is doing this sort of thing, it seems as though most of the posters on this board do guitar based stuff.

I do some electronic stuff on Fruity Loops. I'm also a guitarist.

I use Cubase SX and loads of VST plugins. Its handy for combining guitar/bass/drum recordings with MIDI stuff, although I'm only really just getting started.

I've dabbled a little with it. just familiarising myself with software really though. I have a mate in college who is big into it. recorded a full album but didnt do anything with it. I have it all here if you want a listen i can ftp it somewhere...

Yep. (though I do have a Korg half-rack module) I use an ancient Soundblaster Live card, a load of soft synths head-lined by Atmopshere with a number of host programmes. At the moment I tend to use Energy XT. Soundforge and Samplitude as used for wav file work. My music is of the ambient/cinematic variety and can be heard here when its back working Grrrrrrrr! Home page is in my sig.

    Mike.
