    Hey,

    I downloaded WinAVI and was trying to use it, added all the files and requested it to convert (AVI to DVD) but for some reason it started to stall my PC after a while and I get this message of windows saying it was unable to save part of the data of the VOB file, and that the data is lost and may be caused cause of a hardware problem or network connection (something along those lines - cant remember what one exactly). Iv tried running the program in Safe Mode, but no look either.

    WinAVI never converts past 7% from that point. Any ideas why? Application is running from the C:\ drive and converting files from and to the G:\ drive.

    Update: Im just after cleaning up my PC a bit and decided to re-try converting. Still getting the "Windows - Delayed Write Failed" error message. Doesnt seem to stall my PC anymore anyway. Here is the exact error, getting it in a yellow popup on the task bar by the clock.
    Windows was unable to save all the data for the file G:\WinAVI\dvd_o\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB. The data has been lost. The errror may be cause due to a failure in computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save the file elsewhere.

    never had any probs myself - maybe a bad install? whats your os? works fine on xppro (oem).

    Try unistalling, re-installing...

    Also you'll get a 'Nag' on anything you convert untill you buy it ...

    What is it you're trying to convert... For some reason everytime I try and convert Sin City it freezes my laptop but with episodes of TV shows it works fine...

    I dont think its WinAVI causing the problem. Im getting these errors a bit more frequent now, like when I delete a lot of files when its being sent to the Recycle Bin - towards the end I get that error. Weird.

    This error indicate that the os has lost connectivity to the storage device it was writing too. Are you writing to a local drive or network/external? Check all cables for bent pins, damage ensure your controller drivers are up to date. Run a check disk on the drive....

    Local drive. Iv two hard drives connected, C and G. Ones a Maxtor, and the other (the problem) is one I borrowed from a friend for a while. Cables connecting perfect, check desk came up clean.

    Although, that drive (G) has this problem according to event viewer;
    An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk1\D during a paging operation.

    For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

    That error appears hundereds of times in the log file.

    Why not download the drive diagnostics from the manufacturer, and see if there is a hardware problem with the drive.

    Did, came back with a pass. Anyway, iv got an external HD from a friend (200GB) and using that instead, seems to be OK. Guess the other drive just couldnt handle it!
