Does anybody know of any dvd sites that are currently having sales, or are at least expecting one?

Assuming you want to buy Stargate
http://www.dvdsoon.com do them for $36 a season(€25 with free delivery). The special offer they had is now gone.

Well I just bought two from dvdsoon.com, incl. shipping it came to about €50, so speacial offer or not, I'm satisfied.

Play.com and Amazon.co.uk have stargate dvds pretty cheap, at least they did when I ordered some a while ago.

Nah, Amazon and Play are rip offs compared to dvdsoon.com.

    About dvdsoon though...are they reliable?
I mean, all the way from Canada, so many things could go wrong.
Also, how long should it take.

Everything I've ordered has arrived bar the one time I got a wrong item - and they had no bother sending out the correct one.

As to how long... well here's dvdsoon's biggest downfall. I've had to wait up to four weeks for an item to be shipped. Now generally it's less but if the item isn't in stock be prepared to wait. The cheapness has hidden costs..

I'm with ixoy on this. They can be slow at times but they have always delivered.

If time is all I have to pay for the massive discount then I don't mind.

Do dvdsoon just do Region 1 or do they do region 2 aswell?

I am tempted by the chance of cheap stargate dvd's

If ya get the DVDs, check out some of the commentaries from S4 onwards. They can be quite good technically (if it's Martin Wood) or amusing (if it's deLuise). They're also full of pointless, but amusing, trivia and point out the director's cameos in each episode.

I will. a friend of mine has all the box sets from dvdsoon and I can't remember if his season one has any extras, 'cos mine is region 2 and it has none.

Do you have any idea if the different regions have different extras?

Have to admit, just looking on amazon[.co.uk] and they are down around £20 / €30 there at the moment :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭senordingdong

Well Dvdsoon f***ed me over, and Play and Amazons prices have just shot up to £50 a piece.

    F*** that.

Anyone know of somewhere else I can go?

I presume that they're all Region 1. It doesn't seem to say so on the product desription, or I could just be blind.

That's the problem with having an x-box. you're tied to region 2...
