My girlfriends laptop has broken ...what has happened is that the socket for the ac power cable has broken and pulled away from the motherboard ...this socket is normally soldered onto the motherboard from three raised pins ..sometimes from using the laptop while the power cable is still pluged in and not having it resting on a flat surface ..before it broke it was a matter of having to keep moving the ac wire in different directions to get it to connect right and show the power LED ...so from all the messing around with both the cable and the socket it stopped working so i had a feeling it was the cable ,so i opened it up and bingo "i thought" one of the two wires had broken away from the solder piont ...so out came my soldering iron and that was fixed but still nada ...and now the battery is dead and when i boot up al im getting is one long beeb for about 10 to 15 seconds ..
so i opened up the laptop and i seen what the real problem was the housing for the socket was broken and two of the legs had broken away from the motherboard ...i tried to fix this and solder it back to the mobo but no joy it was to badly broken ..so i went into maplins to see if they had one that i could use in this ones place but no joy the legs on the ones they had and the ones peats had where the wrong way around .. :(
so now i hope that the wire didnt blow the mobo when it only had one of the two wires need .???Could this happen ???..and if there is anyone out there who ran into the same problem and where or how did they get it fixed ...any help lads would be great ..i might ring the guy who runs the pc hospital or maybe its called the computer hospital ..anyhow its of georges street ...so hopefully this story has a happy ending to it ..i just hope i dont have to buy a new one ...BTW its a HP ze 1250 ..in case anybody out there has any spares :)
