Perhaps you should look on this as an opportunity to use a far superior browser in every way to IE. This browser is called Firefox.

    Download from http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

    :D

As Gandalf suggested you should go for any of the Mozilla browsers such as Netscape, Firefox or Mozilla itself. Faster, more stable and less prone to crashing.

the op could always download both and give mozilla a try. i did that recently, but i ended up just going back to IE. been using it all the time so i'm more used to the look of it. one thing i did like about MF was the way you could open up pages in new tabs rather than having everything on the taskbar. still, its IE for me.

It's as dial up friendly as it's going to be considering you will be downloading a full browser application. I think it is a bit smaller than IE6 though as you won't have a lot of the Microsoft crap that goes with it. I managed to do it in about half an hour or less when I was on dial-up, (can't quite remember exactly as it was a while ago now.)

Firefox is superior in every way to IE. If you have a very slow dialup, you can usually get Firefox on the free CD's that come with computer mags.

Once you start using FireFox you'll never go back to IE.

Derek27 did you know Firefox has an extension to make it look like IE? Its called "Luna Blue" and it can be downloaded from https://addons.mozilla.org/themes/moreinfo.php?id=411 ... dont use it myself, but could be a way back to FireFox for you??? :D

The firefox download is about 4.7 MB, IE6 is far bigger, so yeah it is more 56k friendly.

That's right. IE6 is something like 22Mb. Ridiculous size for what it is.
