Looking for cheap whiskey and baileys for upcoming wedding reception, Tesco.ie seems one of my few options, any other ideas?

    Cheers!

    Aldi or Lidl maybe?

If it doesn't have to be Bailey's but only an "Irish Cream Liqueur" LIKE Bailey's, have a look at Lidl. The bottle costs around EUR 8.70 and to me it tastes fine. As far as I know both have Whiskey as well. Not sure what price and how good, but maybe try it!

How much do you need? If it is substantial, take yourself off to the continent, the savings will easily pay for a short holiday. You can bring back as much as you like as long as you aren't selling it. 1 lt of Ballantynes (which is half decent) in Aldeasa (Spanish duty free) is around €11.

If you've to buy a bit it would be worth taking a trip up to Newry. Sainsburys / Curleys off license up there.Should save a few quid.

I tried that Lidl "Irish Cream Liqueur" and it was horrible. Now i have to admit i drink Baileys alot so reckon i would tell the difference straight away.
If you try St Brendans or Carolans its not far off it but not the same and a little cheaper. Buy the little bottles of it and taste and see what you think.

Also have to admit i was given the Lidl "Irish Cream Liqueur" at a party recently and i knew from the smell it wasn't Baileys. My mate thought i was been a fussy bast**d !!

I reckon the North is your best chance. Good Luck ;)

The retail margin on hard drink is quite small - about 10% so you won't find much cheaper than tesco / dunnes in Ireland.

In the north you have some chains of off licences which often have some decent prices.

Difference is approx €6 per bottle - all taxes & duty.

You can get a great version of Baileys in Dunnes Stores. It's called 'Knights' and sells at €10 a bottle. Its almost identical to the real thing...
