    Hey

I want to upgrade from ME to XP on my Dell Inspiron 4000. Will this be relatively painless or am I going to get stuck for Dell driver issues. Would I be better going for a fresh install?

definatly do a clean install. Upgrades can be a mess at the best of times, but upgrading from ME is asking for trouble!

drivers should not be a problem, in fact XP may have all that you need.

You should consider home rather than pro unless you plan encrypting files or joining a network domain. XP Pro tends to be more taxing as it has more services running. Of course you can manually disable the ones you dont need.

I am assuming you have at least 160Mb RAM?
