Sudden glut of failed SKY+ recordings

I've had SKY+ for about 4 months and have been delighted with it until now. But for the last 2 weeks I've had a glut of failed recordings all with unkown reason and they seem to be on the increase.

I tried swapping the cables around - I have another decoder and switched the cable for that with for the one to decoder 2 on the Sky+ box. I also did a full system resest (which claimed back all the disk space that had gone missing with the failed recordings) but I'm back to having failed recordings within the day.

The box is in an open cabinet with a shelf to itself and a good 8 inches above, so I find it hard to believe that it's ventilation.

Wondered if anyone had any other ideas before I let Sky give me the run around?
