Well, I missed the last of the satellites for the weekend tournaments in the macau..... but I may pop in over the weekend to have a look.

Just wondering if anyone knows if there is cash games on as well, and what structure do they take. I will be new to the live game, so a low buy-in game would be important.

Also what is the usual story with cash games there??

There's usually cash cames after every tournament. You might be better off with the €10 tournament on Sunday nights though.

Played that sattelite last night but no good.
Details of the usual Macau cash games are here
Cash games will be on every night of the weekend, for a low buyin the 25 game will be your best bet if it's running.

thanks guys... i might try the 25 buy in alright. Do they normally only start as people get knocked out of tournaments... are is there extra people around anyway??

Also in that other post, I saw the rake is taken by the hour .... 4/hr for the 25 game. Is this normally how rake works in poker rooms etc??

Also what is the story with tipping dealers etc... I assume that its not necessary in tournaments (unless maybe you win), but whats the etiquette in the cash games. (the only time ive played cards in a casino before was in vegas... but that was blackjack)

The main cash game in the Macau (atleast it is whenever I'm down there) is the PL Omaha game which is possibly the sickest cash game I've ever seen. The last time I was down there for a 100+R tourney a player who busted early from the rebuy (by rerereraing preflop with Acey deucey :D) went over to the omaha game which I watched during the break and he took down 2 enormous pots by playing cards that were complete bollocks (like 259K rainbow  ) I almost wet myself laughing at the other players disgusted faces.

Jimbling be careful with live cash games. Sit down underfunded if you just want some experience otherwise make sure you are well bankrolled.

Theres a whiteboard with in the room where you put your name down for whichever size game, then when theres enough for a table (as people get knocked out) it starts up.

As for rake, the dealer takes a couple of euro from the pots, usually the bigger ones, I think most places work this way.

As for tipping in the cash game, a euro or two for any decent pot you win is the norm. Monster pot = big tip.

Well, as said I don't have that much live experience... and I don't have a live bankroll either (I do have an online bankroll, but that is still in the building process... and I dont want to mess with it).

What I want to do really is to try and gage my own ability. I realise I could just play the tournaments... but to be honest I am not that big a fan of them.... live or online. they're fun.. but not really a good way of making money (obv thats my opinion... which is going on my own experience)

If its a 25 buy in then i would treat it like a fish... just a night out. Ill bring 75... allowing myself 3 buy-ins... but i wouldn't be expecting to use them :D

But your probably right... i would be better off playing the 10 tourney to start... Its just i would like to have a look at that 1000 tournament to check the quality... and don't want to just be standing around all night....

The Omaha game has sort of fizzled out lately I think, sometimes a round-of-each gets going alright. The 50 cash game is pretty crazy at times, pot odds are out the window for most, and towards the last hour of the night any two will do. Very, very tight play will garuantee most a profit, at least the few times I played it.

For the 25 game, Jimbling, I'd say sit with the max (100) and just play very tight and you'll get paid off. You'll soon realise who the maniacs are.

The Sunday 10 rebuy is unreal crazy. Until the rebuys are over it's bingo, but great craic too with some crazy outdraws. Once the rebuys are over, proper poker is played. Bring 50 at least though as that will give you 2 rebuys and an addon.

oh hold on... max 100... i thought the 25 meant a max buy in of 25... 50 of 50 etc etc... same as it works online... whats the story there??

The 25 game refers to the minimum buyin (25 min buyin - 100 max buyin), don't think any casino has a cash game with a max buyin of 25.

The 50 game then has a minimum buyin of 50euro, not sure of max, or if there is a max.

okay thats a different kettle of fish... i guess thats the nice thing about online...

so what are the blinds in these games? are they generally loose or tight... would the quality be higher at the weekend due to the bigger tournaments going on....

I think ill go to the tourney on sunday... get used to the place and the players first.... 50 quid is alright for an evening of poker....

The standard is mixed enough with usual share of tight players and maniacs. A couple of the old lads play very aggressive with their large stacks and are good players, so you need a top hand to play with them. I don't think the standard will change too much at the weekend.
The blinds etc are detailed in that other post.

    sorry didnt spot them there....
ya... to be honest I think that that is kinda above my limit.... Im still only playing the .25/.50 online... so i would prefer not to jump straight into the live game playing .5/1.

Ill give the tourneys a go and try and get some practice in.... see how that goes, then ill try the cash games.

Tell me, when the tournaments are losing players.... do they do single table tourneys etc after as well.... or is it just the cash games....

It's just the cash games available after being knocked out of the tournament. Of course there always the blackjack and roullette :D

With the new bigger poker room open (or opening soon), I'd say they might try mixing it up a little, setting up little STTs, etc for those still interested. The cash games are a little out of my league aswell, jimbling, but I wouldn't mind a little more action after being dumped out of the main tourney.
