    Hi all.

I'm new to all this, but absolutely love taking good pics...

I have a good olympus digital camera with 10 optical zoom and all the rest...

I was just hoping that some of you guys could give me some pointers as to where i should start off. I live in Dublin city and find it hard to find anythin. I find it dark and gloomy, though when I visit the countryside in Wexford, I feel there is an abundance of pics to take... its such a different world... actually feels like you have freedom and no traffic or stress involved...

I would love for you guys to view some of my pics and tell me what u all reckon from a starters point of view. Is there anywhere I can upload my pics to?

I am really looking for some serious inspiration, in Dublin I find its just not there. I dont want to lose interest because my pics dont come out well.

There are also a whole lot of options on my camera that I have to explore... looking forward to that.

    C

in dublin, if you look above the shop fronts there are a lot of beautiful buildings, also there are some great statues around. the ones of the famine people near the IFSC are really good ones, theres a post here with some in it:

if you go to some of the parks in dublin, such as the Phoenix park , Herbert park (in donnybrook) and even St. Stephens Green and Iveagh Gardens in the city centre you can get some "green photos" avoiding the traffic and stress.

try uploading your pics on photobucket
    its pretty simple to use.

oh yeh, places like howth, bray, dun laighre...

Dublin has loads to shoot IMO. It depends on what you want to photograph

For "people" photos, obviously its always changing. Usually loads of interesting street performers, people on the street. You can't really go anywhere particular to find interesting portrait/people photos. Most of the time, they come to you.

As for buildings etc, temple bar has lots and lots of little side streets and interesting buildings/shop fronts along with a lot of colour. The big streets usually have nice things to shoot, grafton street, o'connel street etc. There are nice bridges and the boardwalk can be interesting. Of course , it doubles up at night, when the street lighting changes everything. you have all the parks and the botanical gardens if you want to shoot flowers. Outside town, along the dart line are great places. Dun Laoire blah blah.

I suppose it helps looking through other people's pictures to see what makes an interesting photo. Then when you go out, you might see something like it and go, "that looks like that pic i saw". Then, you begin to see photo oportunites yourself (not that i can!). I always look around here. (its a canon forum, but people are always uploading their photos. There are so many great photos.Haven't plucked up the courage to post any there yet!) Go to the "Urban" section to find photos from all different cities. You might have to sign up but its worth it.

you could also set up an account in deviantart.com. Its good for having your photos all together, although im kinda gone off it as its very slow.
