What kind of (different) antenna is this?

    Folks,

Take a look at the attached antennas (sorry for the blurry picture). Basically, they're very small 90 degree corner angles of Aluminium with a loop of coax. They seem to be quite common around Limerick. The "open" side of the angle points roughly North

What type of antenna is this - MMDS, terrestrial or broadband/comms?

[edit - if this one turns out to be a terrestrial antenna - thread can be moved!]

    Cheers

They are for MMDS in areas where the signal is strong. I presume they are directed to Chorus's mast in the Woodcock Hill area to the North of Limerick city (thats the hill with the "golfball" (radome) for aviation.. )

    Antenna,
yes, they DO point at Woodcock Hill.

    But here's something interesting....

See attached pic - ant2. These point in two different directions around where I live. Different providers? or different Chorus transmitters?

    What do you think?

Yes thats a MMDS antenna too.
Chorus have another main transmitter at Keeper Hill, a mountain about 15 miles north-east of Limerick city - maybe its directed at that, if its not Woodcock Hill?

alternatively it could be pointing at a very low powered MMDS re-transmitter nearby (these are nicknamed 'beambenders') in areas the path to a main transmitter is blocked.
