After thinking and thinking about it I finally got it - my new iMac G5. :) I'm now a very happy Mac user - really pleased and I would recommend it if you are considering getting a Mac.

iTunes on the Mac is definitely superior to the Windows versions... I guess the folks at Apple put more emphasis on the Mac version.

Any recommendations for great software add-ons to make my Mac even more complete?

Theres a thread here somewhere with peoples fave software.

    Something i like is - http://www.ragingmenace.com/software/menumeters/

Shows cpu / network / disk usage info.

For internet browsing try Firefox and Camino

    For emails, Try thunderbird.

With macs, there are not 100's of alternatives, usually around 10, 5-6 which are brilliant.

    What kinda iMac? Running Tiger?

Hi,, I bought my Imac last October when they first came out, it is absolutely amazing, I use it for Graphic Design work, and I was shocked at how well it handled the large file sizes. Wanted the PowerMac but obviously the price was way out of my league.

    Money well spent !

Previously had an EMAC, greatest pile of sh1t

Hi BazH - did you purchase your iMac with the 1GB RAM pre-installed or did you upgrade it yourself after?

    Thanks!

Yeah but 1gb ram from apple is seomthing like 300 quid, got 2 x 512mb sticks from komplett and was around 120, installed them myself, which is a 5mins job.

I wouldnt run OSX on less than 512mb, upgraded my powerbook to 512 as well, its a relatively cheap upgrade.
