You could only really have a) pushed pre-flop, which you're not generally gonna do in that position, b) made a higher bet pre-flop, and 4xBB is about right, c) pushed post-flop, which is more or less what you did since the 4c made no difference or d) checked the turn and then folded when he bet. It's his play that needs abusing.

You overbet the flop. You don't need to bet the pot here on a steal. 2500-3000 is enough but against a weak player you're probably better off taking a free card. Once he calls the flop bet run for the hills, you are done with this hand.

i forgot e) check the flop

I felt if I bet small he would come over the top and if I checked he would have bet at the turn regardless. I think I was a little on tilt at the time, and I thought I could push him off the hand. The fact that I believed he would be in there with rubbish shouldh have made me think twice about betting the flop I suppose. Anyway it was pish poor play and I know it, but he should have folded ;)

I've never had a night where I've lost so many showdowns

AA beaten 8 yes 8 times
    Ak beaten by AJ
Q8 on a flop of 9 T J beaten by JK when a Q landed on the river
KK beaten by QJ, all-in preflop and he hits a straight
AQ beaten by AQ when he hits a flush on the turn
    99 on a flop of T 9 4 all-in against KQs and a J made his straight
44 against AT on a flop of 4 3 5 with 3 to a flush for him. 2 came down on the turn
AT beaten by J4 when he called my all-in for 70% of his chips preflop
A9 beaten by K3o when he called an all-in with the board showing 9 4 3 rainbow!

I could post the hands but it would take too long, I'm going to chalk last night up as a lesson learned and thank god I had a good week to cover it.

and as for that Lafortezza guy, biggest fish on there, imagine having the gall to be holding AA when I raise with 77 headsup, jammy fecker ;)

I hate getting AK in EP. At this stage of a tournament when the blinds are getting big and you end up committing larger % of your stack with a raise at each level there's no need to go overboard with our betting. raising to 2000 at the 200/400 level is too much. 1200-1500 is enough and only more if other players have entered the pot. You don't want to get married to the nut no pair out of position. In fact if you're playing at a table where a lot of pots are getting raised or a lot players are seeing flops then you're probably better off limping UTG with AK and and coming over the top all in of an MP raiser if you believe its a race. I'd rather that try to play it out of position.

    That's quite amazing.
I checked my stats in Pokertracker for the year:
    Hands played: 18,000
    AA: 69 times
    Won the pot: 62 times

So you've had AA beaten more times in one day than I have in 7 months.

That is amazing, not to mention frustrating, aggravating, irritating, heartbreaking and mindblowing. Although 18,000 hands in 7 months isn't a huge amount, I've played nearly 10,000 hands since the 1st July on VC.

When you add into the equation that I've lost with KK on 6 occasions in the last 3 days you have to wonder whether or not the hand ranking needs to be revised!!

Just a bad night, breathe deeply, move on and start again.

You're completely right, I made a play for the blinds and limper (1K) if I had raised to 2,000 then there's the fear that you're pricing other players in.

I thought I could push him off the hand on the flop, and when the turn was a rag I pushed because I didn't think he was very strong. In retrospect I'd of played the hand very differently of course, it's so annoying to bust out of a tourney with the kind of hand you slag other people for!!
