:D I would'nt even attempt it m8!! You will need to have a friend/relative in the uk to get you one off their uk address. You can only 'tune' in the itv channels also if you have one of these cards!!

ITV3 and Men&Motors (AKA ITV4) work but should be on EPG anyway.
    119?

Same topic. I have a relative in London, can I ask him to get me a freesat card and post it over to me. Does it need to be activated in a box in England before it will work here. What do you ask for in the shop?
I have a quad LNB on the sky dish with 2 spare connectiions, if I run a new cable from the dish to a spare reciever is there anything else I need to know or is it a waste of time and money.

AFAIK you should ask your relative to activate it, then post it to you

with the former FTV cards you don't get your relative or friend in the UK to activate them. They post it over and you stick it in your box and call Sky to activate.

what do you mean "wire them up to 1 input" ? input to a TV ? don't understand what you mean.

When i mean wire. Then just suppose you take 6 cables for instance from one dish and
plug them into each of the recievers [in electrical terms you would be connecting each reciver in parrallel]so that in theory the signal that was transmitted either through air or cable would be sent to all the recievers at once thus activating every card as if it was one.what do you think?

The LNB is not a passive device, the box sends a signal to it to tune it in. Only one box can be connected to one lnb at a time.

Part of the turn on process for a Freesat card is for Sky to ask for the card number and the box number. I believe if these are not matching at time of turn on then the card won't be activated.

thanks for that ph,i just thought it was worth a try,but if the lnb has only one connection to it ie the cable running back to the reciever then the cable could be tapped into or split to connect it to another digi box just like you would put a splitter onto the back of a tv set to run another tv.The same signal is sent to each tv.As for the card no, I cant see that sky would go to that much expense and make each card different from the rest and the same goes for the recievers as well.

    Don't try it.

Each digibox will try to send 13v/18v to the LNB (to select H or V polarity) and a 22 KHz (or not) tone (to select high or low band).

You'll fry the LNB and/or one or all of the digiboxes.

If you went into Currys or Dixons they wouldnt have a clue what youre on about and would probably try and sell you a freeview (terrestrial) box

thanks for your advise on the digibox and i wont try it but there must be some way of cracking this code.Any other suggestions that might work?

highly unlikly without them loosing thousand of cutomers all of a sudden
i know their plan they will bring the price of SDTV in par with HDTV over a few years and then people will say "sure why not pay 5 euros more for HDTV after all its meant to be better"

If you look like that in real life and you lived with me.I dont think i would have any need for a digi box anymore and im sure that everyone would feel the same way and you would probably puy sky out of business.Anyway i seem to have gone off the beaten track for some reason.
