MTTS ~ Your Strategy

I haven't really figured out why (yet), but I can't seem to get my head around MTT's at all.

I either bust out early, or finish just outside the money, or scraping into the money. It has to be something I'm doing wrong at some point in the tourney.

So far online I've had a 1st and a 3rd and then about a dozen or so lesser money placings in MTT's. Offline I've played maybe 50 MTT's and I've won 2 and had about 6 top 4 finishes as well as a couple of lower ITM placings.

So how do you change your game from STT's to MTT's, or do you? Do you play more aggresively and look for double up opportunities with a looser hand range than you would in a STT?

In a rebuy MTT, what limits do you set yourself? How many buyins? Do you play a lot looser pre-freezeout than you would normally, are you more likely to risk your chips in a race situation?

Also a question about bubble play in a MTT. After playing for a couple of hours do you tighten up around the bubble or play as normal. For example if you take the $25K game on VC, 27th normally gets $250, so if you were down to 30-35 players and were shortstacked would you reduce your starting hand range to wait out other shortstacks elimination or would you play more aggressively to accumulate chips.

Any and all advice or recommendations greatfully received.

I'll play any two cards except for A9 - A2 in the rebuy period. I don't do too much re-raising unless I have AA/KK as you're gonna get called. AK is a horrible hand at this stage. You will have at least 3 callers if you make a standard raise and even if you hit your A or K... 2 pair will be out there a lot of the time! better off limping with AK or raising a stupid amount and getting AQ, AJ to follow. always bet out with trips etc.. you are going to get called 90% of the time so there is no need to bluff at this stage unless the guy is protecting a large stack. As soon as you build up 4X the buy in (about 8k on PPP), switch to tight aggressive for the rest of the tournament.
I never worry about the bubble. I hate limping into the money. This is the time to double up. Big stacks will raise you with just about anything.
