Stand By Flights From NY

    Hey all,

Myself and two other guys are in NY for the summer. we had initally booked our flights with Air France from May 27th - June 12th but we liked it so much out here we decided to stay and travel. We rang Air France to change our flight dates but were informed that they were only 2 month tickets so now we need to book a one way ticket from JFK to Ireland (anywhere).

Our 90 days are up on the 25th Aug so do you think it would be risky to go to JFK on the 21st/22nd/23rd and wait on stand by for a flight? Would it be cheaper? How much about? what are the chances of getting one?

If ye can help me at all id appreciate it,

    Thanks

I don't think stand-by really happens now post 9/11. I think you would be best to book a ticket

You're probably going to have to come back on the Air France ticket since a one-way ticket is going to cost you a small fortune (more in fact than an apex round-trip in the first place).

Stand-by for you doesn't exist (unless you are airline staff or family/buddy pass).

If the AF ticket is valid for a two month stay then you may be able to still use it to return around the 25th of this month (subject to seats being available and possibly a change fee).
