afaik thats the issue, when you use another telco, you pay their rates which usually means more than the "standard" eircom rates ie 1.5p (NTL) or 2p in your case. Bards Ireland Offline board is probably a good place to get clarification on this, as its pretty much close to the heart of everyone posting there.

I just checked OceanFree's web site (FAQ section) re. cost of their service.

Result: Standard Eircom phone charges apply. Anything else is "misrepresentation".

Actually that is not what it says is
    <font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">How much does oceanfree.net cost?

The cost of using oceanfree.net is charged at the cost of a local call from your telephone service provider.

What other costs will I be billed?

Call charges for the time spent online to oceanfree.net will be included in your regular telephone bill from your local phone service provider. There will not be another bill from OCEAN

In this posters case, that means Esat Fusion..

    Me Bad!

Sorry Danny, scratch my previous reply. As Longfield's pointed out, it's BS as far as your predicament's concerned.

You are being charged for a local call as per this table

    http://www.bestvalueireland.com/irishchargest.html

It only seems to seperate internet calls when you use their ISP service - IOL Free or whatever in which case it's 1p
