well it's me of course duh!

Oh don't worry I can hear your delight and enthusiasim that the greatest shining light in your lives back doing what he does best...... spreading the cheese!

Now I know I could go on all day about how great I am but there are a couple of things I must get off my chest (moan, moan, moan)

193 EURO to repeat one exam!!!!! F OFF! Has this always been like this? I had always presumed it would cost about 80-90 but this is a complete rip off. Also could anyone tell us if you failed 3-4 exams would you pay the exact same fee? Typical UCD. Robbing precious cash off us students and most of it will probably go to funding a bouncing castle in Mr. Brady's little private gym

Something else to do with the August dosser exams. When do you usually get the results? I finish on the 15th so would it be soemthing like 2 weeks?

Has anyone been to the AIB on campus lately? Oh my gosh is security OTT! When you go in you come up to an electronic door now and have to press a button, then once you get passed that door you have to do the exact same thing again to enter the bank.... it's crazeee, you'd have to see it to believe it.

Has Economanic posted anything which makes sense and is not hyprocritical to the extreme?

Well anyways please welcome me back with open arms or I'll ban you all!

    Zft2 :)

Yeah doesnt seem fair zane-it shouldnt be that high the repeat fee-im repeating 5subjects though so not complaining to much-but it should be a lot less if your repeating one!But thats rip-off ucd for ya!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 839 ✭✭✭zap

to be honest i think ucd are right to charge that price there is no excuse to be repating an exam unless you don't bother your ass doing anything, if you have a legit excuse then your repeats would be free. Secondly the air lock door is like that in alot of AIB around the country.

Sorry that Red Alert I missed your post. At the mo' yes providing that I pass Sociology in the repeats. Don't wanna come back tho' but there isn't another course out there that suits me down to the wire. Just gonna have to stick it out for the next 2 years but at least I potentially have a few friends starting out here next year which should make things a little better.

WTF you failed 5 subjects!!!

You're medicine girl, you have brains unlike thicko's like moi! :D

Yeah but unless you've got money growing on trees everything is hunky dory. Totally have to accept that anyone who fails a subject should pay but 193? That's a rip off especially when I'm only repeating one when some like Panda are repeating 5 subjects at 5 times the cost for the exact same price as me. Now that is wrong, unfair and lacks any logic.

BTW to say that anyone who fails an exam did not bother doing anything is a bit harsh. People fail for many other reasons than dossing. Now I didn't kill myself studying but I know my failure was due to blanking out through nerves and stress. Had this not happened I would have been confident of passing.

i still think it is a reasonable price, if I failed an exam I would expect to have to pay, also the one price for all might be harsh for you but is very cheap for others so it evens out.

Probably did work out to be fair last year... I repeated everything when I was in 2nd year. Go being dumb. :p

How many second years have you done Rainbow  ?

From a precursory count it seems you my be encroaching upon my record!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5 Lucky_Devil

Miracles do happen...I didnt fail any exams...but that means i do have to come home early...FOR GRADUATION...so i get punished YET AGAIN for picking random dates for flights

I managed to get through 4 years of actuary without failing a single subject along the way...40.0% twice, 40.2% & countless others in the 'dodgy' 40-45% zone

Either way, I'm finished & if it wasnt for money issues id be drinking myself to death right now...can only manage to a stupor at the moment, but working on it!

Ah no one thinks your a dosser, sure if we had a 50% pass mark 100% of my class would have failed third year! Thats fairly rough actually, I can't count the number of times I've got in the 40's  Anyway Arts ppl you have to understand that some of the other courses have lots and lots of subjects, (we had 13 this year) so while failing 5 in Arts might be bad, or even down right impossible, its fairly common in other places!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,124 ✭✭✭Jonny Arson

Ah but Panda..... MEDICINE..... c'mon.... you have brains! Oh I love being a thicko Arts idiot who thinks repeating one subject is the end of the world.

BTW yes I'm good ol' Bill bones who currently sailing on the Albion in the quest for Arcady.

Eh, you mean Mrs. Brady's private gym that she moved from their old place and the SU blew out of proportion? The overhaul on the house was also just to make it habitable, and it's not like he'll be taking the home improvements with him when he leaves, so it's an investment. The real issue was the landscaping which was probably unnecessary, but everything else can be logically accounted for. I wonder what the bone of contention with "the man" will be this year!

No, the crazy thing is that they got robbed just after it was installed. Via the back entrance. Oh yeah, they're actually that smart. Don't you just love it?

Isn't that how all AIBs are with the two doors? My local one is anyway

Yeah, the one at home isn't. But the one in Deans Grange is the same as that.

    Deansgrange? The middle of nowhere?

It's on the 46A, the 45, the 75, the 7B (or is it A?) and to a lesser extent the 84 bus routes. There are dozens of shops, a supermarket (soon two), 2 banks, 2 off-licences, a chemist, 2 chippers, 2 large pubs, a number of restaurants, petrol stations etc, etc + LOT's of green fields (unusual for such prime real estate).

The place is a hub of activity. Night life is certainly not it's thing but Dun Laoghaire or Stillorgan are a 10 minute cycle (or a 40 minute crawl as I can multiply attest :p ) and town a half hour on the bus. Given it has a one of the busiest junctions on the southside getting a taxi is no sweat either.

<rant> 63, 84, 75, 7b/d, 145, 46a/c/d/e. However, I happen to live a fair whack by foot from those bus routes and oh-so fabulous assets you've listed. Every time I shop in Super Valu they overcharge me. EVERY time. They hate to see me coming because they know it'll take at least 10 minutes to serve me, due to the fact that I won't put up with being overcharged - it's kind of illegal. It never takes less than 45 minutes to get to town - and considering I use the first bus in the morning that leaves Dun Laoighre at 6.15 as regularly as I use any other, I have a bit of an idea. On a good day you can spend over an hour just getting to Stephen's Green. I can understand how Deans Grange might be ok if you're from there, living at home and not renting. But I'm not. So the fact that I could rent a place more convenient to college and work is something I can think about. I have to pay rent anyway, so why pay more rent to live somewhere less convenient? To get to the exams in May I have to get the bus at 7.30 just to get through Blackrock on time. That's ridiculous! Plus, I was grumpy and had had to put up with some au pair's rotten little charges playing with the doors in AIB when I was trying to get through them at the bank. Which happened again yesterday. If I see those kids again, I'm buying them leads.

Then you don't live in Deansgrange!
I, drunkenly, cycled from Ballybrack and it took 15 minutes to the far side of the Deansgrange graveyard. Get yourself a bike! :D

They do have a nasty habit of doing that. It's not the first report I've heard.

Codswallop! I take the bus to Stephens green three times a week and it takes 30 minutes from the centre of Deansgrange. It can take longer a rushhour (upto 50 minutes) but that is rare. The nitelink home takes less than 20 minutes (17 mins to Foxrock church my bladder reminds me). Sunday services are a bit flakey though.

That's fair enough, rent whatever and wherever you find convenient. Personally I'd love to live in town but the rent is exorbitant most places.

Eh? Push bike? It's 10 minutes (2 miles) to Blackrock from Deansgrange. All flat, no uphill.

You people and your physical exertion. I firmly maintain if yoga kills (and I have a badge to prove it) then all other sports are worse - I don't quite know how, but they are.

I don't buy a bus ticket for nothing!
