use a stanley knife that almost always works, with my eyes.

my brother scratched his cornea, this involved an incident with small scale home made explosives.

It is possible AFAIK (but then again, what do I know?)

Happened to me once that I woke up and couldn't open my eye. It was too sensitive to light and kept watering. Went to the Dr. who said it was it wasn't a scratch but like a pimple on my cornea (can't remember the medical term) and if I kept blinking it could rupture & then I'd be fcuked.

    Her advice: get an eyepatch.

I advise you to do the same.

Maybe you could play pirates rolleyes.gif

Many still stick to the stanley knife option, and i swear by it works every time!!

Yes, you can, and very painful and irritating it is too. If you go to hospital, they can drop a yellow-green flourescent dye in your eye and any scratches or abrasions will show up quite clearly under fluorescent light. If so, you can get drops for it I believe.

Yes it is. But the eye is dramatically good at healing itself. It should be fine in a day or two. If it was serious you'd be blind or in blinding pain.

Twould be tough scratch your cornea without scratching the inside of your eyelid too (and by God, you'd know if you did that), but if you're that drunk it's possible that you'd scratch it and the blink reflex wouldn't kick in.

I scratched the sclerotic coat and the insied eyelid once. Hurt like a bitch for a day. Was fine the next day though. I also managed to burn the inside of my eyelid with similar above-mentioned fireworks. Ouch.

in fact the specialist in the above incident said the exact opposite. The blood supply to the extreme outside of your eyes is very limited - which slows healing

There ya go. The pain leaves quickly though cos I guess your eyelid heals quickly. Pain gone = healed or dead IMO :)

Yes, it is possible..... I did it, in an incident when I was a bouncer, involving a chav and a broken bottle. Went to hospital, they gave me some cream to put in my eye and a patch.

I got a toddlers finger in mine. Terrible discomfort, but the cornea is "the fastest healing tissue in your body" according to the doc that served me. Two days with a patch and I was OK.

That walk first out from the eye and ear hosp with a patch is hilarious, though.

We, me and the other bouncer broke his leg, when the door accidently got closed on the with the force of to big blokes.

Basically after we threw him out, he tried to kick the door as we closed it, his leg slipped and got jammed in the door..... as we were in the motion of slamming it, the door get closing, and all I heard was a snap and a scream. When we opened the door, a couple of minutes later, he was no where to be seen.

He was so off his tits on drugs (Animal tranqualisers, is the in drug up there) that he walked/crawled down the road..... didn't take long for the police to get him.

Yes, you can and it hurts like a bitch - but if it keeps hurting after a day or two, go to a doctor as there may be something stuck in the cornea - which requires a trip to an ophthalmologist.......
